North Liberty Rev. David Finch. Niles. Mich., a nephew of Marget Mason, to Calvin. Kentucky, last week and Ruth Finch rode along. Mrs. Mason has been here due to a death in the family. She visited with her nieces and nephews in Michigan and North Liberty area. Some tn the community went on a three river cruise, by American Drcam Tour. They enjoyed the trip very much which began in St. Charles. Missouri, on the Mississippi and Illinois River and stayed at Alton. Illinois. St. John's Lutheran Church held a mortgage burning ceremony of the parsonage, last Friday evening. Rev. David and Mrs. Shockey and children took part a they were the first tenants in the church's home. Mr. and Mrs. Tim Parson had weekend guests here from Engle-w-ood. Ohio and they were Tim's sister. Mr. and Mrs. Rob Marquis. Gladys Sheneman entertained the following friend at a Halloween party, on Monday evening. Those present were Mary Black. Aletha Croy. Rev. Tim and Terry Stewart. Katie and Jennifer. Kim Stuber and Jessica. Claudia Schalio and Christina. Dave and Pam Craft. Emily and Sara. Halloween contest were enjoyed by all in the basement that was gaily decorated for the holiday. Refreshment of sugar cookies. pumpkin pie and other goodies were served along with coffee and cider. Gail McDaniel was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center, on Monday evening, after suffering a heart problem. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fair returned home, on Friday, from Palm Springs. California, where they had attended a Citgo National Convention. Don't forget to attend the annual Bazaar at the North Liberty United Methodist Church beginning at 1:00. on Sat.. Nov. 4 and then they will be having a turkey dinner from 4 to 7:30 p.m. A fun time was enjoyed at the North Liberty Nutrition Site on Tuesday of this week with a large group attending. Halloween

W|. returned home on Saturday after Brian spent the week here holding a revival at the Church of Christ. His wife, Nancy, and daughters arrived on Thursday and then after the revival on Friday evening, the Henry family helped Nancy celebrate her birthday. So all in all it was a great week for the Henry family. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Harness, of Goshen, spent Thursday afternoon with his sister. Maxine Worthington and huband. Wesley. Marjorie Fair had the misfortune of spraining her knee at St Paul’s on Oct. lOth and is now very depressed so please remember her. Helen Hav and Belly Sheneman visited with her on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Smith are the proud grandparents of a new grandson, Scott Andrew-, born to Mr. and Mrs. Arden Smith, of Lowell, Ind. Diana Wright recently returned home from Spring Lake. North Carolina, where she had been visiting with her son. Mark and family. Her husband. Charles, was involved in an auto accident on Friday evening at the corner of Riley Rd. and St. Rd. 23. He was taken to Memorial Hospital where he is a patient with a broken hip and some other injuries. Please remember him. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Nelson. Violet Wolff. Maxine Worthington and Gladys Sheneman volunteered at Miller's Merry Manor to accompany Mary Jo Golubski and 40 other volunteers over to the Yoder Farm, near Nappanee, where they all enjoyed a delicious dinner together prepared by the Y«»dcr family, who have no electricity in their home. Rev. Charles and Joyce Richmond arc the proud grandparents of a baby girl. Gladys Sheneman called on Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pogod/inski. Saturday afternoon as Ed had just returned on Wed. from the LaPorte Hospital where he had been a patient for over a week. Lee and Charlotte Podog/inki. of Chicago, were there and were invited over to Jim and Gloria Risner’s for a birthday

dinner for Ed and Lee. who were both celebrating birthdays. A delicious steak dinner was enjoyed b\ all including their wives. Tommy Risner and friend. Robin Betz, of North Liberty. Birthday cake and ice cream were served. David and Melissa Garw<x>d. of Valparaiso, were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whitmer. Mr and Mrs. Richard Carter, of Lakeville, spent Sunday with his grandmother. Ruth Cullar. Bill and Ruth Bauman left on Saturday for thicr home in Florida where they will live permanently now. We are going to miss them but we all wish them well. Steve Forcsman had the misfortune of falling off a ladder Thurs. evening as he wa cutting off a tree limb and was taken bv ambulance to St. Joesph Medical Center. He didn’t break anv bone but he is on crutches and would like to thank Bob Payne, Jack Jackson and Craig Perkins for the splendid service in taking him to the hospital. Mr, and Mrs. Lowell Ross recently returned from a two week trip to Belton. Texas, where they visited with their son. Lynn and family. They also visited Baton Rouge. Routes 4 and 23, will be hosting their 64ih Annual Old Fashioned Bazaar on Saturday. November 4 The Bazaar will begin at 1:00 p.m. running until 7:30 p.m.. with many interesting articles available from various booths. The Turkey Dinner will be served from 4:00 - 7:30 p.m. with carry-outs available. The cost for the dinner is as follows: adults. $4.75; Over 60 years. $4.00; children 6-12 years. $2.25; and children 5 and under, SI.OO ATTENDS DAIRY CONFERENCE Jerry Klopfenstein, North Liberty. represented St. Joseph Countv at the Indiana 4-H'ers National Dairy Conference, held October 2 to 6. in Madison. Wisconsin. Delegates and representatives learned more about dairy marketing. genetics and nutrition. There were more than 200 young people from 25 states and six Canadian provinces attending. I he First grade class from North Liberty Elementary School came on Wednesday and sang several songs and recited some Halloween po- ‘ ems. We always enjoy this group 1 and what they share with us. There were approximately 60 in the 1 group. Also op Wednesday Esther Shoue explained more to us on the ■ recycling days, November 10 and • 11. She also told us there is a need for volunteers in the Before After School Latchkey program. There is also a need for more helpers to J work in the Christmas Project that takes place each year in the community. Halloween, we had a sing along and placed a few games under the direction of Madclvn Nelson and s Gladys Sheneman. We will have a free eve screen- . ing November 6 from 10:30 to 12:00 , mx>n b\ Dr. Kessei. of South Bend, i An upcoming program will be on November 15 at 11:15 by a naturalist from Potato Creek State Park on the deer. These programs are very informative from the park and are alwavs a favorite of the seniors. Come and join us on these beautiful fall days.
