SIOO.OO gift certificate - Lola Schn'edcr; 2nd prize, brass glass touch lamp - Jeanette Rivosecchi; 3rd prize. Brass glass touch lamp - John Kranenburg. Proceeds from the raffle will be used for the upkeep of the Association squad car. It is the aim of the association to have the squad car patroling the Koontz Lake boundaries as often as possible. To do this there is a certain amount of expense involved Just as there is in operating any vehicle whether for pleasure or business. The association is striving to give the best squad car service possible m conjuction. with the Sheriff's Department. A big "thank you" to all that participated in our raffle and another big "thank you" to the men that do such a great job

Fall Meeting Os GFWC Women Held Oct. 20th The GFWC Walkerton Woman’s Community Club met at the Walkerton Community Building on Friday. October 20th. Mary Jane Beaty gave a lovely opening prayer and Vcrda Karn gave the devotions. President Mildred Casey called the meeting to order and had roll call to which (he members answered with their favorite popular song or favorite hymn title. "Amazing Grace" was the hymn favored by most. I he speaker was David Munich, a technician from the Twin Branch fish Hatchery. August or September. They keep these fish until December al which time they are ready to lay their eggs. Ihe eggs arc then placed, when they are large enough, into an incubator. When the eggs are hatched and the* fish are large enough to be released, they are placed in the St. Joseph River. Munich showed slides of the procreation process and answered questions from the audience. Money to support this project comes from the sale of fishing licences and some federal funding. Verice Walz, education chairman. gave a report on the literacy project. She has a meeting set up with an instructor of literacy from (he Plymouth Library Helen Bow man. membership chairman, reported that a guest. Shirley Awald. wished to join the club. Mrs. Awald was later voted in unanimously. It was reported that Bernice I ichtenbarger is ill and would appreciate cards and letters. The president informed (he members of a change in the by-laws that will be voted upon at (he November 17th meeting. A motion to add Charlotte Behnke's name to the honorary membership list was approved bv the members. Birthday ladies were Mildred Nolcheff. Alfreda Onika and Carol Knop. Twenty-one members and a guest were served delicious cake and pumpkin pie with a beverage by hostesses Mildred Casey, Ella Remus. Marjorie Curl and Lucille Schuster. The meeting was closed with the reading of the club’s "Collect" by all members present. Hie Noy ember 3rd meeting will be dinner in the banquet nx>m of Al's Diner at Koontz Lake.
