his speed was more than the Faicons could control He scored four touchdowns, gained 2^6 yards on 14 carries on the ground, passed for another touchdown and ISO passing vards and did all this in less than three quarters Coach Dennis Rippv just didn’t have anv one who could stay with the big sprinter and if he could get to the outside, it was Katie bar the door. The Falcons, a young team this vear. completed their season with a b-4 record, tied tor second in the Northern State (reference and all in all had a very surpristnglv good vear for what was expected in this basically rebuilding season, ihe Bombers take a 5-5 record into the North Judson game, a team that had defeated Rensselaer earlier this season when Brandenburg wasn't playing quarterback. John Johnson hit Rick Hummer with a pass and run play that covered 66 vards for a score. The conversion was missed, but the Falcons had used the big play quickly to take the lead in this game. Glenn got the ball back, but the first of seven turnovers started the Falcons downfall. An interception of a pass gave the Bombers the ball on the Glenn 28. Mike Lowry ended this short drive running it in from 10 yards out and Jason Lintner pulled in a Brandenburg pass for two points and the Bombers had gained a lead they never lost again. It was 8-6 with still over half the first quarter remaining. Another interception followed once again taking the ball from Glenn and giving it to Rensselaer in excellent field position at the Glenn 34. Brandenburg took this one in on the second play for 33 yards and a score. This time Brandenburg hit Jin’ Miller with a pass for a two point conversion and it was 16-6 with 4: IM still showing in quarter number one. I he next score was one of Brandenburg's big plays. He simply got outside the contain man and his sprinter's speed carried him all the wav for a M 5 yard touchdown run. A missed conversion meant very little as it was 22-6. still in the opening stanza. And the first quarter fireworks weren't over yet. After the kickoff. the old h<K’k and lateral play was gix>d for Glenn as Johnson hit Rick O'Connor with a pass, who lateralcd it to Hummer who sped 61 vards for another Falcon TD. making it 22-12 with still 1:01 in the opening quarter showing. The missed conversion hurt, but Glenn had to feel they were back in the game again . . . that is until Brandenburg continued his almost single-handed assault on the Falcons. Leading 22-12 going into the second quarter. Brandenburg scored scored his third touchdown of ihe night on a 12 yard run with 9:44 left in the first half. This made it 28-12. The killer blow was dealt with 2:45 left in the half when Brandenburg hit John Dunbar with an 80 yard pass and run play for another big play touchdown, this making it 34-12 before halftime in a game that was now getting out of reach. Brandenburg wasn't done yet. On the second play of the second half, he broke another long one. this time for 74 yards and a score and by (his time it was all over but the playing out the time. The Bombers scored once more in the third period as a lot of their starters, including Brandenburg was given the rest of the night off. Losing is always hard for a competitive team, but the Falcons had nothing to be ashamed of and even though beaten soundly by a great individual and team performance, they had completed a season that had to be satisfying to the coaches and players alike.
