North Liberty Visitors this past week of Frank and Betty Ginzer were Debbie Weldy of Lafayette; Frank Ginzer. Jr. of DeMotte; Theresa and Greg Holderbaum of Mishawaka; Joe Ginzer of Parma. Michigan and David Hawn of Mill Creek. All enjoyed a good visit together. Last Thursday. October 5. eight members from St. John's Lutheran Church attended “The Geritol Follies” in Toledo, Ohio at the Masonic Temple. "The Geritol Follies" are from Hamilton. Ontario. Canada and its 'sixty and over in age* gang who sings and dance. They sure can entertain. We joined with two other church groups and travel thru the Atlas Tour. There were 38 in number on the bus. The Temple holds more than 2500 and it was nearly full for the show. It was a fun day for all. Steve Solomos, Jr. is in the Memorial Hospital. South Bend. Indiana. The Edwin Bare family reunion was held the First Sunday in October at the Stuntz Hostetler Pine Forest Social Room with about forty attending, coming from Culver. Argos. Plymouth. South Bend and several families from North Liberty. The oldest member present was Dorothy Ruff. 93. who resides at Miller's Merry Manor in Plymouth. It was decided to hold the reunion at the same place, same time next year. Gene and Norma Patrick returned home Sunday evening from a vacation touring Washington D. C.. Ohio. Virginia and West Virginia. On Thursday they arrived in Salyersville. Kentucky where they visited relatives and then they drove to Nashville. The Henry Whitmer family reunion was held last Sunday at the Lions Club building at Fish Lake. Six young people called the "Light of the World" from Great Lakes Bible College entertained 110 young people at the youth rally at the Church of Christ Saturday evening. They were treated to pizza after playing volleyball and enjoying a great concert. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hensley moved to their new home on Williams Street this past week. The V.F.W. is still serving breakfast on Sunday morning from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. They would appreciate you patronizing them. They have been well pleased so far. Mary Black of Chicago, aunt of Pam and Dave Craft moved into apartment HA last Thursday of the Savoie Apartments. Aletha Croy is recovering from her recent surgery and was able to attend her great-granddaughter. Serena Spencer, daughter of Tony and Lisa Spencer of South Bend, baptism at the Christ the King Church in South Bend Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Several members of the family attended including Steve and John Rudynski of North Liberty. Our sympathy this week goes to Kathleen Knecht and her family in the loss of her husband. Norman Lahker. only 49. who had a long illness with cancer. Many of you will remember her as she is the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Knecht. She lives in Walkerville. Remember Saturday night from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., the Tyner United Methodist Church will be serving their annual Chicken Noodle Supper. which is delicious, if you have never attended before. It is a free will offering. The Retired Neighbors and Friends gathered at the Pine Creek Church on Tuesday noon for another delicious dinner prepared by the ladies of the church. About 150 were present. The president, Harold Roush, of Plymouth, was in charge of the business meeting. Several new friends were present for the first time. The nominating committee elected the following officers for 1990. They elected Gladys Sheneman, president; Orville Buss, vice president; and Evelyn Yeagley as secretary and treasurer. They also appointed the following to be in charge of the monthly programs: Mary Knepp, Evadene Platz. Madelyn Nelson, Velva Kline, Deloris Pippenger, Catherine Stone. John and Evelyn Harbaugh, Arlene Kane and Louise Grenert. After the business meeting the Pine Senior Citizens of Bremen, arrived and all enjoyed their musical program, which included a bird could really sing and whistle. November will be our Thanksgiving dinner so remember that date on Tuesday, November 7. North Liberty can be very proud of our Treasure Chest store, which resells used clothing, shoes and other useful gadgets and knickknacks. If you have never visited our Treasure Chest, you should do so. It is sponsored by the Methodist Church and many of the women who work there are all with a friendlv smile.
