J.G, Graduate Joins Faculty At U.N.L.V. Tim Hanson, a 1982 graduate of John Glenn High School and a 1987 graduate of with a bachelor of arts degree in theater, has joined the faculty of U.N.L.V.. of Las Vegas. announced next week. Several of the seniors were in a baking mood last week. Hilda Center donated a homemade angel food cake and Helen Cowood brought in a lemon cream pie. Both delicacies were raffled off and the lucky winners were Jessie Garcia and Gaynel Denaut. The proceeds were put in our petty cash fund and will be used for needed articles at the site. Pat and John Cowger donated tomatoes which were served with our dinner on Tuesday. We wish to thank the Cowgers and all the others who have brought in fresh vegetables to share with those who do not have gardens of their own. With the rain this summer the gardens have really produced and we are happy to share in their abundance. Juice winners for the week were Mary Cripe. Nora Hahn, Rose Minter and Harry Webster. A big thank you goes to Florence Seekings for playing her quitar and singing lovely songs which were enjoyed by all of us and we hope she will come again soon and entertain us again. Anyone in the community who has a talent and would like to share it with us may contact Iva Kring at 586-7600. All seniors and their spouses will be made welcome at the site just to sure to get your reservations in the day ahead of the day you plan to attend. We hold sing-a-longs every Friday with Verice Walz at the piano and Fred and Millie Daniels as our leaders who also bring some very pretty duets. We wiM -also have another blood pressure clinic and the ftu shots in the f uture. , Adult Education Computer Classes Are Offered The John Glenn Education program is once again offering a non-credit course in computers. The course will cover all beginning processes for operating computers. Through simple BASIC programming. the participants will learn about the computer parts, proper handling of hardware and software, and how information is stored and processed. Demonstrations will be given on some widely used software for handling data such as reports and letters, inventories and financial records. The class will be based on hands-on activities with Apple computers and is designed to meet the needs of those unfamiliar with computers. The ten sessions will be held at the Walkerton Elementary School on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., and the fee will be $40.00 The first session will be on October 3. Any adults wishing more information about this class or wishing to register should call the school office at 586-3186. Enrollment will be limited to 25. UREY VOLLEYBALL OPENS SEASON The Urey volleyball teams opened their seasons last Thursday at home versus South Central The 7th grade team lost the first two games, 11-15 and 7-15. Urey’s leading scorer was Renee Fisher with ten points. In the Bth grade match Urey lost a close game 1215. then won the second 15-0 before losing the decisive game 3-15. High scorers were Christy Werner with 18, followed by Beth Gaywell with nine points. On Monday. Urey faced Mishawaka Beiger. The 7th grade team lost 1-5 and 4-15. Jennifer Hoover
