Girl Scout Rally Set For September 13 The Walkerton Girl Scouts will kick-off their new season with a rally. Any girl, in grades K through 12. is welcome to come see what Girl Scouting is all about. Girls wishing to join one of the Walkerton Girl Scout troops the night of the rally must bring her parent or gardian. However, it is possible to join Girl Scouts at any time of the year. The rally will be at the Walkerton Youth Building, on Washington Street, on Wednesday. September 13. from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. New girls and new adult volunteers are being actively sought to strengthen the Girl Scout movement in Walkerton. Anyone who would like information before the night of the rally, may call Rose Ebv at 586-2645 or Lori Becker at 586-7695. BULLS CRAIG HODGES PRESENTS CLINICS AT LAPORTE FAMILY YMCA The LaPorte Family YMCA, in cooperation with Farmers State Bank of Wyatt, will present Craig Hodges, starting guard of the Chicago Bulls, for two basketball clinics at the YMCA. The clinics will be held on Saturday. September 9. for grade school students from 10:00 - 11:15 a.m. and for Junior High and High School students from 1:00 - 2:15 p.m. Both clinics will be limited to 200 boys and/or girls. I he clinics w ill include shooting drills, passing drills and various basketball relays with Craig Hodges working with the group. The older age group will also participate in halfcourt games as part of their clinic. Registration was open for LaPorte Family YMCA members through September 3. with the clinic fee of $3.00 to benefit YMCA Youth Sports and Partner-In-Youth membership and programs scholarships. As of Monday. September 4. the clinic registration will be open to non-members of the LaPorte Family YMCA. BEGINNING EXPERIENCE TO HOLD RETREAT WEEKEND Beginning Experience, a weekend program for divorced and widowed men and women throughout the Michiana area, is scheduled for September 8-10 at Ancilla Domini retreat center. The goal of the Beginning Experience weekend is to help those who find themselves single again to work through the grief of thier loss and move on to the future. The program is designed to provide a supportive atmosphere for self evaluation. The structure includes listening to group presentations, private reflection and small dia logue groups. Each day for thirty minutes, students are exposed to a variety of fun learning experiences of their choice. Students may chose from advanced art. video class production, industrial technology. CPR. chess model construction, science, etc. Pictured are a few of the students from model construction offered by Mrs. Taylor. Students in model construction learn to read and follow instructions, prepare the many small parts, paints and construct the model of their choice. Some students arc working on their first model while other students are very experienced at model construction. All in all. everyone finds this class a fun experience. FAN BUS TO LAVILLE The fan bus for the varsity football game at La Ville on Friday. September 8 will leave Tyner and North Liberty at 6:15 and Glenn at 6:30. Game time is 7:30 p m. Adults. JOHN GLENN VOLLEYBALL TEAM IN TRITON TOURNEY The John Glenn volleyball team will be playing in the Triton tourney, on Saturday. September 9. Others participating in the tourney are LaVille followed at 9:45 a.m. with the Manchester and C.G.A. matches. The winners of these games will meet at 1:30 p.m. At 11:00 a m. Triton and Argos will square off followed at 12:15 p.m. with the Culver and Bremen matches. Winners of these two matches will meet at 2:45 p.m. The championship game is set for 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be sold at the concession area. Admission is $3.00 for adults; $2.00 for students and the ticket is g<x>d for all day. NOTICE The Senior Fellowship will meet Monday, September 11. in the Youth Building after the R.E.A.L. Services. This is the meeting posponed from Labor Day.
