The Marching Falcons began their trip with a brief rehearsal at John Glenn High School on Thursday. July Bth, for parents and friends. As soon as the United Limo Limited motorcoaches arrived. band members swarmed on to the buses ready to “get the show on the road". The first stop after an active and sleepless night was Niagria Falls and a breathtaking ride on the
Maid of the Mist. After an entertaining Japanese dinner, next stop was the Toronto theatre district and the musical Cats. Also entertaining during the performance was a kamikaze bat. However, all Marching Falcons survived, chaperones too. even Mrs. Wagoner. Saturday. July 10 saw our successful performance at Canada’s Wonderland, an amusement park in the northern part of the city. Also included in our day was a visit to the CN Tower, “the tallest freestanding structure in the world", overlooking Lake Ontario and the entire city of Toronto. The conclusion of our day was spent at the hotel pool where the band members kept the pizza delivery people quite busy. Our last day in Toronto saw a visit to the Ontario Science Center where band students could explore at their leisure the exciting exhibits. Our journey home began at 2:00 p.m. and we arrived safely home about 12:30 a.m., tired, happy and full of exciting memories. The trip to Toronto was termed a success by this band director because of the high standards our John Glenn Band Students conducted themselves everywhere we went. All seniors in the band elected to go with us and one even got married the week before. Thanks to the Band Class of 1989 for your time and talents: Carmen, Carolyn, Lori. Tracy. Michele. Troy. Mike and Scott. Also a bip thank you to the wonderful staff of chaperones who helped make the rough road smooth. Hats off to Glenn Jacob. Mitzi Knepper. Pat * Amor. Cindy Jacobson, Nancy Chapman. Joby Petry, Judy Springman and Tim Jessie. Also. Ruth and Roy Baugher, Martha and Ed Keeling. Terri and Ron Hostetler and Bruce and Sue Fleming. The next step for the Marching Falcons will be Band Camp beginning Monday, August 7 at 8:00 a.m. in the high school band room. All high school band members are required to attend.
