Local Bank To Sponsor Triathlon Farmers State Bank of Wyatt will serve as commercial sponsor for the tenth annual LaPorte Triathlon, according to Thomas T. Boyd, president. The LaPorte Family YMCA coordinates the event, which will begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday. August 19, at Soldier’s Memorial Park. LaPorte. Participants will run 3.7 miles, bike 10.4 miles and swim one-fourth mile. Last year’s triathlon drew nearly 500 individuals. Awards will be given this year for overall male/female, teams, and individuals in different age groupings. All participants will receive a Triathlon T-shirt. MEMORIAL BLOOD DRIVE The Walkerton United Methodist Church will be having a Blood Drive on Saturday, August 19, at the church, starting at 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. This is a Memorial Blood Drive in the name of David Knowlton. Please contact the church at 586-3534 and set up an appointment to donate blood. This is being done by the South Bend Medical Foundation Central Blood Bank of St. Joseph County. There will also be free cholesterol screening for all donors. REAL SERVICES NEWS Blood pressure clinic on Tuesday, July 25. Verice Walz and Marian Chapman. R.N.s, will conduct the clinic. Don't forget to bring your card so the nurses can record your pressure, your doctor will be interested in seeing this the next time you pay a visit. The volunteers were really great last week and two each day served as the site directors along with some great help from other volunteers. The protem directors were Fred and Opal Bullinger on Mon-

Everyone is excited about the picnic Wednesday at Jellystone Park. This will be our first outing away from the site and a lot of advance planning has been made so that all can enjoy themselves. We’re happy to report that Iva Kring is back again as full time site director and Iva, if you need help again, the protem directors will be on hand to help again. Juice winners for the week were Nedra Gyemant, Bob Smith and Hazel Kempe. Remember to get your reservation in the day before you want to eat by calling the site at 586-7600 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Come join in the fun and fellowship if you or your spouse is 60 or older, that’s all that is necessary. The charge of the meals is just SI.OO but come even if you don’t have the dollar, that’a what REAL Services is all about. WALKERTON WOMEN AGLOW TO MEET JULY 20 Walkerton’s Women’s Aglow will meet Thursday, July 20 to praise the Lord and to hear a very special speaker, Jeanneen Klahr. After being diagnosed with an incurable disease called pulmonary sarcoid, Jeanneen Klahr’s husband packed up their three children and moved his whole family to Tulsa. He planned to attend the Rhema Bible Training Center to learn the Word of God better. Through increased faith from having heard the precious promises of God and accepting His divine intervention. Jeanneen was healed. After 22 years of marriage, now they both still work together for the Lord. Greater than the healing, she says, is her firm commitment to serving the Lord her Healer. All who come Thursday will get to hear her "proclaim our rights and privileges as new creatures in Christ and to help others be set free from sickness and disease through the good news of the gospel". OREGON TOWNSHIP SENIOR CITIZENS TO MEET JULY 20 The Oregon Township Senior Citizens will meet on Thursday, July 20, at 12:00 noon, at the Unicorn Restarurant and Lounge, 60 E. Washington, across the street from the courthouse, in Knox. Choose your menu. They specialize in broasted chicken and other daily luncheon specials and also have sandwiches and salad bar. etc., all reasonably priced. Make arrangements for a ride or drive your own car. Call a friend and bring a friend. This month our meeting will be in Knox and the following month we're planning the meeting place at the Culver Inn. We will treat ourselves during the hot summer for a change. Should be most enjoyable. See you July 20th. do come!
