CONVENTION Mrs. Jean Cole and Mrs. Sandy Kurzhal, of South Bend, attended the 93rd National P.T.A. Convention, in Atlanta, Georgia, last week. The highlight of the convention was seeing former Indiana resident, Mrs. Ann Lynch, installed as the new national president of P.T.A. for the next two years. The past state president, Mrs. Linda Shopoff, of Fort Wayne, was also installed as the region IV vice president, another honor for Indiana. Region IV includes four other states besides Indiana. The ladies learned of many activities other P.T.A. groups are doing throughouth the country and hope to use their knowledge in their work as state board members in Indiana. Before returning to Indiana, a side trip was made to Charolette, North Carolina, to visit with Mrs. Cole’s son and family, Richard, Allison, Brooke and Amber, who entertained the ladies with sightseeing and swimming, but Grandma Cole mostly enjoyed sporting her new granddaughters. On the way home, another stop was made in Indianapolis where the ladies attended the Indiana P.T.A. State Board of Managers meeting. Plans were made for P.T.A. activities in the coming school year and also for the 1990 national convention which will be held in Indianapolis. Both Jean and Sandy are looking forward to working for the growth and improvement of P.T.A. in Indiana.
