WHAT ONE NUT CAN DO! Il is sad to report that once again a deranged person or persons has captured the headlines and caused millions and millions of dollars of waste by their actions. The latest threat to the public, the poisoning of fruit from Chili. The threat that red grapes were laced with cyanide and the fact that a couple ot grapes were found to have traces of cyanide in Philadelphia, has caused the latest problem At this time of year, all of certain kinds of fruits comes from Chili. Despite the chances any real danger lurks for the average person going into their favorite supermarket or produce stand, it is simply a case of not being able to take the chance. After the Tylenol incident of some years back, such threats must be taken seriously. I he work ot one deranged person in a situation such as this, can have a serious effect on millions of people. Not just the customer who will now not be able to purchase many of their favorite fruits, but the store owners, the vendors who distribute the produce locally, to the growers, shippers, etc., the entire way from Chili to your local store. Ihis is just another example of how one person can actually disrupt the lives of so many. It happens in other ways, the terrorists, the airline hi-jackers, the deranged killers who go on a spree like was the case in California a few weeks ago, and yes. the case of Mrs. Bianco, right in our neighboring Mishawaka. whose tragic death by her convict husband does touch the lives of so many. There is no way punishment of such as these can minimize the crimes committed, but somewhere along the line, something must happen to stop such incidents as this. The full ramifications of this one little act will never be known by anyone as such a crime as this touches the lives of too many people along the way. It is just another example of what one deranged mind can do to so many others.
