SENIOR BOWLING NEWS With near record numbers of senior bowlers out, supported by several spectators, the Shady lanes were filled and the pins were flving this past week Admittedly, there was a slight problem in grouping the ‘ pin-falls" as the scoring was not overly high. However. the good natured banter and rivalry continued to keep the enthusiasm and enjoyment high. The ladies saw June Baker roll a high scratch game of IM. followed by Clare Martin's 101 Helen Lazarek's 223 high handicap game just topped Baker's 21 ~ and Martin's 215 games. The high series total went to Baker's 40 T followed by Helen Bowman's 392 and Martin's 391 totals. Each week the "honors" seem to spread themselves throughout the group, and from the fine attendance, all were

having a good time this season. The gents saw Harold Schweder in good form as he rolled the high scratch game of 194. It was followed by Roman Brehm's 180 and Bud Weinman's 176 games. High handicap game of 222 went to Schweder. followed bv Brehm's 221 and Weinman's 214. High senes total also went to Schweder. who had a 507 for the day. Eli Sobat was a distant second with a 440 series. With the season moving along, the scores are staying relatively constant for the gents, with the competition not deminishing one bit. With 44 seniors registered to participate with the group, the Seniors arc enjoying a fine season. Although all can not bowl each week, there is always a place for one more. Come enjoy the activity. with friendly lively neighbors and new friends. You'll like it! R.E.A.L. SERVICES NEWS Hazel Schweder and Fred Bullinger chaired the programs on Monday and Tuesday. Fred baked raisin rolls and gave them away. Chuck Minter and Gaynelle Dcnaut were the lucky winners. and wife were guests. It really was treat dav as Iva made garlic toast to serve with our spaghetti dinner. We also played bingo and MaryHahn's game "Hot Potato”. On Thursday and Friday, the programs were chaired by Jim Thibodeax and Verice Walz and Verice played piano music for us and Nora Hahn read a poem. Juice winners for the week were Ellen Cochran. Caroline Danielewski. Gayle Mayfield and Dean Knowlton. We enjoyed having the lake people join us and hope they will become regulars. We were also happy to welcome back Ivy and Adam Lygc and want to thank Ivy for the candies. We have a big list of thank yous — to the "Goodie Barn" for donating donuts and rolls; to Fred Bullinger for making numbers to draw for winners; to Helen Wright for giving us wall decorations for each month; to Kenny Chapman for the sacks and boxes to use for our carryouts. Coming attractions are bingo every Wednesday, bake sale on March 24th and on March .30th, our first birthday, and Violet Wolf will entertain us. Again we appeal to the public to help us out. SCOUTS DISPLAY Scout crafts and clothing are now on display at the Koontz Lake Library. Girl Scout Week will be March 12 - 18. We are displaying things from the Girl & Boy Scout Troops in our area. The girls are from the Singing Sands Council. Troop 431. Juniors. Carol Nowatzke. leader; Janice Palkovick. co-leader. The group consists of girls from the 3rd - 6th grade. They meet Mondays after school until 4:30 at the Oregon Davis Elementary. There are presently 15 girls in this group. They arc sponsored by the American State Bank of Koontz Lake and Oregon-Davis Elementary. Troop 444, Brownies. Sue Ernsbergcr, leader. The group consists of girls from lst-3rd grade. They meet after school until 4:30 on Thursdays at the Oregon Davis Elementary. The Boy Scouts are from Rice Pack 35. You must be 7 years old. Den 1. Ulita Blair, leader. They meet at Hamlet American Legion Post. There are four boys in the group. Den 2. Denise Trujillo, leader. They meet at the Trujillo home in Koontz Lake. There arc seven boys in the pack. Webelos Troop, you must be 10 years old. Dan Keller, leader. They meet in Mr. Keller's home in Hamlet. They have three boys in their group.
