Vivian Hillis is convalescing at Countryside Place in Knox. Indiana. Her sisters Winifred land, of Indianapolis. and Dorothy Peterson. of Essex, Wisconsin, visited her Sunday Mr and Mrs Ken Gillies returned home from Etlan, Virginia, last week after spending two weeks there visiting with their sons and families. Mr and Mrs. Brad Gillies and Mr and Mrs. Greg Gillies. Mr. and Mrs. James Reed and hrs mother. Mrs. Dorothy Reed, returned home on Friday from vacationing at St. James City. Florida. where Mrs. Dorothy Reed has a home. Mrs. Bertha Urbin. Mrs. John Guttman, of Wakarusa, and Mrs. Ruth Hughes, of South Bend, visited with Mr. G. E. the Conservation Club dinner meeting on Saturday evening, at the clubhouse, beginning at 6:00 p.m. E.S.T. Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn enjoyed Saturdav evening with a group of friends made while they were serving as volunteer firemen This month they met at a restaurant in New Paris, to enjoy dinner together. In the winter months they meet and have dinner at different places and in the summer they enjoy camping for a couple of days in different places. This is a monthly occasion. Guests came from Goshen. Dunlap. South Bend and Walkerton. Mr and Mrs. George DcPoy. of Culver, were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mrs. William DePoy. Mrs. Josephine Betz celebrated her birthday, on Saturday, by having a dinner given in her honor at the Plymouth Holiday Inn. Guests included her children and families from North Liberty. South Bend. Osceola and W’alkerton. Son James, and his family, could not attend the dinner so they visited with his mother on Sunday. A surprise birthday partv was
held for Floyd Dtpert. on Saturday at the Johnson Community Building, hosted by his wife. Martha Dipert. This was in celebration of his ’’Oth birthday. NAMED OUTSTANDING YOUNG ADULT Jeff Lipke. son of Howard and Alynn Lipke. will be honored at a luncheon meeting of the Minnesota Women of Tcxiay. on February 24 for being chosen as one of Minnesota's Five Outstanding Young Adults. Jeff is the grandson of Ted and Edna Lipke. Koontz Lake. Lipke was nominated for state honors by the Detroit Lakes Women of Today, in October and received a SSOO scholarship from the local group. He is an ‘A’’ student at Detroit Lakes Senior High and he was a tri-captain on the 1988 football team that won the Mid-State Conference championship and won 10 straight games before losing in the sectional finals. He also lettered in both basketball and track. He was in two plays at the school and is vice president of the student council and president of the choir. He is a member of the Lake Singers and was selected to the National Honor S«K'icty as a sophomore and
belongs to the Math and German clubs. To Celebrate 50th Anniversary With Open House w” ' ‘ 11 r 4 Celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary are Mr. and Mrs. William Clark. Route 5, Walkerton. Mr. Clark and Alberta York were married on February 4. 1939. in Hammond. They have one daughter, Carol Sue Rackley, of South Bend, and three grandsons. Mr. Clark retired from Walkerton Oil Co. in 1976 and Mrs. Clark from Jacob Drug Store in 1984.

Lincoln Ambulance Board met at 7:00 p.m. on January 11. 1989 with the following members present: Maggie Gaddis. Elsie Heimer. Richard Miller. Alfred Bottorff and Cheryl Rizek. Attorney Jim Hayes and clerk-treasurer Judy Hiler were also present. Attorney Hayes called the meeting to order. The first order of business was the election of officers.
