Mr. Jeffrey Rensberger, of Roann, was a Sunday visitor of his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Rensberger. Mr. Don Nicholas, of Jackson Street, is a surgical patient at Michiana Community Hospital, in South Bend. Mrs. Dennis Ludwig, of Mount Clemons, Michigan, is here visiting with her mother, Mrs. Howard Knowlton, prior to moving to Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Roger Whitaker and Mr. Marvin Whitaker, of Highland and Dyer respectively, were here on Sunday to visit with their mother, Mrs. Ethel Fields. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Rockenbaugh, of Millersburg, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Mullet. Mrs. Stanley Betz attended the Lane family reunion, held on Sunday. which was at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Betz, in Mishawaka, with over 40 in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Nusbaum, of Fort Wayne, were here on Friday evening and Saturday visiting with their mothers, Mrs. Ella Nusbaum and Mrs. Velma Stahly. and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hostetler camped out at Mr. and Mrs. John Shaw’s campground, at their home at North Liberty over the weekend. Seven ladies from the Koontz Lake area enjoyed a tour last week from Friday to Sunday at various places of interest in Wisconsin. Saturday they went to the House on the Rock and in the evening were given a dinner party. On the return trip they visited Cave Mound which they found very interesting. Mr. William Sohn, of Hobart, spent the weekend here with his mother, Mrs. Fran Sohn, to help with chores around the house. Mrs. Vee Shogren returned last week from spending a week in Wycoff, New Jersey with her son, Mr. and Mrs. William Shogren and family. A birthday party was held at Tiebols Restaurant on Saturday in honor of George Pfeiffer’s 93rd birthday, given by his children for a few friends and relatives. Mr. Pfieffer is a former Koontz Lake resident. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Kerchaert will serve as hosts for the Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Nowakowski, Koontz Lake, spent the weekend in Chicago with their families.
They were celebrating Mrs. Nowakowski’s birthday. Sunday a dinner was held at their sons home with the family members present and on Friday they were entertained with a dinner at a restaurant with their daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ullery were Friday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Freeman, at Plymouth. Mrs. Viola Ohms and her daughter, Pauline, so Grant Park, Illinois, visited with Mayotte and Hazel Arseneau. Mr. Arseneau returned home last week from having surgery on September 8 at the Michiana Community Hospital, South Bend. He is reported as doing nicely. Mr. and Mrs. John R. Guttman and J. J., of Tokyo, Japan, and Mrs. John B. Guttman, of Wakarusa, were in Walkerton Wednesday of last week visiting with Mrs. Bertha Urbin and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Urbin. TO HOLD CLASS REUNION Walkerton High School Class of 1958 will be holding their 30th year reunion, in Las Vegas, at Circus Circus, the weekend of October 20, with the big celebration on October 23. Friends and graduates who live in the western states who would like to join the class members of 1958 are more than welcome to attend the reunion. Think about spending the weekend with us. GREATER AREA MEN’S GOURMET CLUB MEETS The September meeting of the Greater Walkerton Area Men’s Gourmet Club was recently held at the home of member John McGee. Soup followed by mixed greens salad with soy dressing were the second and third courses. The main entrees consister of Polynesian chicken with vegetables and beef chop suey served on beds of rice, accompanied by hot dinner rolls. Green tea, ice cream and fortune cookies topped of the meal. The October meeting will be hosted by member John Froyck. SENIOR BOWLING NEWS The Senior Citizens Bowling Group started their season off in fine fashion Wednesday afternoon. The first session was devoted to establishing a handicap, getting the muscles back in shape, and rediscovering how heavy that bowling ball becomes by the third game. Both the ladies and gents posted some nice first session scores. Mildred McKesson's 164 scratch game just topped June Baker's 151. However, June was the only lady to pass the 400 mark for total pins, posting a 425 total. There was a very close race, with just a 6 pin spread in the gents group. R. Brehm posted a 199, H. Schweder a 196 and E. Sobat a 193 in the high scratch game contest. Schweder and Sobat had series totals of 551 and 545 respectively. Nice bowling, ladies and gents. There is plenty of space for additional Seniors. Join the group on Wednesday afternoons and enjoy the exercise and relaxation it provides. JOHNSON TOWNSHIP HOMEMAKERS MEET The Johnson Twp. — - * — Jkttp year. There were 13 members and two children present to repeat the salute to the flag and the club creed. Roll call was answered by a school memory. The Friday meeting at the Holiday Inn was planned and all but one ticket was being used. The Johnson Township’s 50th reunion is planned for Sunday at the clubhouse. Lots of things have happened in the past 50 years. The meeting closed with the club prayer. Delicious refreshments were served by Pauline Knowlton and Pauline Johnson. Door prizes went to Laura Malstaff and Velma Stahly. The next meeting will be on October 19 with Neva Klinedinst and Laura Malstaff serving on the committee.
