Mr. and Mrs. De Wayne Lee and their daughter Sandra and granddaughter Michele, attended the wedding of their grandson, Phillip Lee to Mary Jones, of Montgomery, Pennsylvania recently. The happy couple will live in Pennsylvania. Susie Teter spent a few days last week with her sister, Gladys Sheneman. Many from this area attended Ruby Salyer’s Quilt Show, held last Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the LaPaz Community Building. Over 200 beautiful quilts were on display, along with demonstrations of machine quilting, rug making, strip piecing, Irish chain making, basket making and tatting and they were all so fascinating to see them at work. To me it was her best quilt show ever. On Saturday, October 1. at 7:30. Smokey Joe. a folk singer, guitarist who combines popular country try music will perform at Peppermint Hill in Potato Creek State Park. This will be the last music presentation for this year. A special movie entitled “Twice Pardoned" was shown Sunday evening at the Church of Christ. All young people and parents included of the North Liberty area should see and hear this ex-con tell of the terrible life he lived in his younger days and how he ended up in prison and what he went through while there. He has been pardoned and is now out doing his best to help our young people. The second part will be shown next Sunday evening at 7:30. Plan now to come and encourage all our young people in the area to come.

We need more people to take a stand and inform our young people and help them to see the right from the wrong way of life. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Lord and family, of Lafayette, Indiana, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Durwood Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gardner, of Argos, spent Sunday afternoon with Lola Pavey. Susie Teter, of Mishawaka, and Gladys Sheneman were dinner guests Friday noon of their sister, Evelyn Stoneburner and her husband Ray. They enjoyed a sightseeing trip in the afternoon together. Mr. and Mrs. George Henry, of New Road. Gladys Sheneman, Rev. Charles and Joyce Richmond, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kronk and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Kronk were all dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Kronk. The occasion was to help Marge Kronk and Charles Richmond celebrate their birthdays. Remember Tuesday, October 4, is the Retired Neighbors and Friends meeting together at the Pine Creek Church for a delicious dinner, prepared by the ladies of the church and then Mary Knepp is in charge of the program. Paul Williams, Sr., is home again after spending the past week in the hospital. He has to take it easy, but says he is feeling much better, which is good news. signs going up in our town? Thanks to whoever is responsible for them. A Singspiration was held at the North Salem Church of God near Plymouth. Those people providing special songs from the North Liberty area were the Dave Craft Family, Becky Burck and Tiom Rearson. It was an evening filled with singing and fellowship. A social hour followed the program. Ruth Carr and son Jim. of Lakeside. Michigan, Mae Albright and Francis Slattery were dinner guests Saturday of Martha McCrosky. Callers over the weekend of Francis Slattery were Mr. and Mrs. Claude McEndarfer and Harry and Wanda Kane and her father, of Bremen, Della Scott was very much surprised Monday evening when the following friends arrived in their gowns and robes and announced they had come for a slumber party. Those who came were Barbara Zimmerle, Spin Hevel, Nancy Sheaks and Bertie Bulla. It sure didn't sound like they got any sleep. Tom Fair, of North Liberty, was re-elected secretary of the Indiana Oil Marketers Association, on September 21, during the fall convention at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, in Indianapolis. Congressman John Hiler and wife, Catherine, were guests of honor at a house party, held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Harbaugh, on Saturday, September 24. Friends and neighbors joined in an informal get-together with open discussion on current issues locally and nationally. The Congressman has been holding these type of meetings throughout the district to become better acquainted with the needs of the people and answer questions concerning their needs and desires for the future.
