However, occasional bright sunshine and the sight of two beautiful rainbows made the trip interesting for Mrs. Beaty and Jean. Mr. and Mrs. John Cowger awaited word that their daughter, Judy Kamykowski, of Long Island, New York was safe after hurricane Gilbert hit in Cancun, Mexico, where she was vacationing. Word of her safety was received Sunday evening when she arrived at O’Hare Airport, in Chicago. REAL SERVICES NEWS Heartfelt thanks to the many persons who donated to our kitchen. It’s now complete and very serviceable. We feel sure community people who rent the building will be delighted to use the new kitchen which is kept spic and span clean as is the rest of the building and many thanks to the Park Board for allowing its use for the meals. Verice Walz played dinner music on Monday and Don King gave the blessing. On Tuesday we honored all the seniors who had birthdays in September and we helped Mary Cripe celebrate her 80th. It was also ladies day and the ladies got to line up first while Verice read a poem entitled “If 1 Had My Life To Live Over”. Lucille Gardner had
charge of the program on Thursday and Florence Seekings entertained us on Friday with her guitar and singing. Come again Florence, we really enjoyed your program. Mrs. Craft by September 26. The annual meeting will be on October 8 at Triton High School and Mrs. Craft is in charge of reservations. Mrs. Richard Anderson presented an interesting program using the song. “The Women”. The words in the song reach out to us and fit us as Christian and United Methodist Women. She also used the fifth chapter of Matthew and the 16th verse. Her helpers were Mrs. David Drews. Mrs. Velma Stahly, Mrs. Clara Cole and Mrs. Mary Jane Beaty. They all give testimonies as to what the U.M.W. group meant to them. Also officers and members gave testimonies. We gave ourselves a hearty clap as we were proud to be U.M.W. working together all over the world. The Ruth Circle served refreshments. The next meeting will be October 20.
