Mrs. Goldie Skinner was the special birthday guest of Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Hahn. Jr., of English Lake, on Sunday. September 11. Others present to enjoy the cookout and homemade ice cream and cake were Gerald Hahn, Catherine Hahn, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hahn and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Hahn, Sr. Mrs. Bertha Urbin and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Urbin were in Wakarusa on Sunday afternoon and evening at the home of Dr. and Mrs. John Guttman. Others present were Mrs. David Yoder, Jessica, Stephanie and Todd, of Elkhart; and Mrs. John R. Guttman and J. J., of Japan, who are here for a few weeks visit. Rev. and Mrs. Robert C. Bowman attended Mr. Bowman’s 60th high school reunion, at Johnstown, Pennsylvania, September 1. They

had a reunion at Bedford, Pa., with his brother, sisters and families over the Labor Day weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hahn and family, of Plymouth, enjoyed the Labor Day weekend at Peaceful Meadows Campgrounds, southwest of Plymouth. A cookout was hosted by the Edward Hahn family, on Sunday with the following attending: Gerald Hahn, of South Bend; Catherine Hahn and Goldie Skinner, of Walkerton; Mr. and Mrs. Carey Hahn and family, of Plymouth; and Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Hahn, Jr., and family, of English Lake. Homemade ice cream and cake was enjoyed in the afternoon honoring Leigh Roy Hahn, Sr.’s birthday. Mike Klinedinst, of Antioch, Tennessee, spent several days home visiting with family and

friends, last week. Sig and Oren Duthie, formerly of Walkerton, now residing in Fedhaven, Florida, were overnight guests of the Matouseks, in Port St. Lucie, Florida, also formerly of Walkerton. They had a nice visit and were able to visit with Ruth Johnson, of Walkerton, also who is in the Palm Garden, Florida. They enjoyed dinner on the river and enjoyed each other’s company. The weather was very good. The Matouskes and Ruth Johnson plan on taking a trip to Fedhaven for a visit soon with the Duthies. No special hosts are set up for the pot luck dinner of the Koontz Lake Conservation Gub meeting on Saturday evening. Mrs. Doris Malstaff, of Union Mills, was a Friday afternoon visitor of Ethel Bierly. Mrs. Frances Ramier, of LaPorte, was a Saturday afternoon visitor and Sunday afternoon visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Lester Bierly. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Lowry and family have returned to Indiana last week since he has finished his four years in the Navy. They were stationed at Jacksonville, Florida for the last few years. They hope to make their home in the Walkerton area. LaPorte on Sunday to visit with her sister, Mrs. Nell Gindaniel, who had eye surgery the end of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Klinedinst visited on Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Coles, in South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith were Friday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clell Fouts. The birthday of Mrs. Geo Gark was celebrated on Labor Day with the following guests present: Mr. Paul Gark, of Sacramento, California; John Gark, of Indianapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Gark and daughter, of Mishawaka; Mr. and Mrs. Steve Clark and family, of LaPorte; Mrs. Martha Kaminski and family, of Grovertown; Mr. Dean Knowlton and Mrs. Connie Knowlton. Mrs. Gark said it was a birthday she will always remember and of course ice cream and cake was served. Monday Mr. and Mrs. Gell Fouts visited Mr. and Mrs. Don Compton and Mrs. Susie Teeter, of Mishawaka. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Robinson, of Muskegon, Michigan, spent the weekend in Walkerton with Mr. and Mrs. John Wathen. On Saturday the two couples attended the wedding of Nancy Wathen to Richard Mitchell, in Griffith.

The children of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Weller honored them with a dinner Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Groves, LaPorte. The dinner was given to celebrate the 40th wedding anniversary of the Wellers. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. William Braden and family, of Merrillville; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harris, of Elkhart; and Phillip Harris and son, of South Bend. HOST FAMILY REUNION Phil and Linda Bukowski hosted their family reunion at the old Jesse Schroeder farm, near Koontz Lake. Family and friends attended from Montana, New Mexico, Louisiana, Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan and all over Indiana. Everyone had a good time visiting, playing volleyball and viewing family pictures and reminiscing. Good news was received that David and Becky Thibodeaux were blessed with the birth of a beautiful son, Mathew Joseph. Rain cut short a wonderful day but everyone enjoyed a delicious carry-in dinner highlighted by a hog roast. A big thank you to Fred Newland, Bob Bierly, Ron Mays and Rick Bennett for wrapping and roasting the hog and a special thank you to Carl Sobieralski and the Walkerton Ambulance Service.
