Mr. and Mrs. Warren Kasler, of Wooster, Ohio, visited with Francis McDaniel and Gail and Mae McDaniel over the weekend. A van load of senior citizens of the Church of Christ enjoyed dinner together, Sunday noon, at Al’s Diner, Koontz Lake. Following the meal Charles Hensley, van driver, drove them around Koontz Lake and then stopped at Stuntz & Hochstetler Pines Christmas Shop to look at the displays. A fun day out together. Steve Ross, son of Logan and Susie Ross, will be going into the Navy on Tuesday. We ail wish you well Steve. Ed Craft, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, spent the weekend here with his brother and family, the Dave Crafts. Evelyn Croy, Pat Croy, Janice Wozny and Joan Rudynski hosted a baby shower at the home of Joan Rudynski. on Sunday afternoon for Linda Croy. About 25 relatives and friends were present. Linda received many lovely baby gifts. Refreshments were served including a lovely decorated cake baked by Mary Ruth Newcomer, of Elkhart. The Dunlap Bouse family reunion was held last Sunday at Orchard Shore East, at Potato Creek State Park. About 40 attended with most of the family members coming from towns in southern Indiana. Helen Bouse, 83, of Walkerton, was the oldest present. Gene and Norma Patrick and Gladys Sheneman attended the wedding of Jami Sue Sheneman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry

Sheneman, of Bremen, to Jeffrey Abbott at the Church of the Brethren, in Bremen. The 6:30 ceremony was lovely and following a reception was held at Amish Acres, Nappanee. Rev. Gaylord Saltzgaber, former pastor of the United Methodist Church, North Liberty, is now serving the Maple Grove Church as their pastor. Mr. and Mrs. William Limerick were at Great Lakes Naval Base on Saturday, September 10. where they attended the retirement seminar. Charles and Helen Hensley have returned from a trip to Washington. D.C., where they attended the final Marine Parade at the Marine Barracks. It was spectacular. The following day was spent touring Arlington Cemetery, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial. They were impressed with the ceremony of the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They toured the Capital Building and the Smithsonian Institute. They said it was a wonderful trip but they were glad to be back home in good old North Liberty. The Retired Friends and Neighbors of the Pine Creek Church met last Tuesday with 120 present to enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by the ladies of the church. Election of officers was held with Harold Roush being re-elected president; Orville Buss, vice president; Rosella Thornton, secretarytreasurer; and Gladys Sheneman and Mary Knepp, program chairpersons. Mary will have the program for the October get-together. _ _

Entertainment for the day were the Hoosier Sundowners, of Mishawaka, which everyone enjoyed hearing the old songs. Many of you North Liberty residents remember Anna Strycker. She will be celebrating her 97th birthday on September 18 and please remember her with a birthday card of visit her at Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton. Did you know that the Circus was in town last Friday. If you did not attend, you really missed a good show. The circus was sponsored by the Greene Twp. and North Liberty Lions Clubs. How many of you remember the old Stringtown School, where it was located and what happened to it? Will tell you all about it soon. To Celebrate 50th Anniversary With Open House Mr. and Mrs. Harry Truax, of Walkerton, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Truax and Blanche Elliott were married September 18. 1938, at the Pine Creek Church. The open house will be hosted by their children, Jim and Pat Truax, of Hungerford. Texas; Jim and Sharon Kinney, of Walkerton.and Phil and Jeannie Clark, of Elkhart. They have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The couple requests no gifts. The bride-elect is a 1983 graduate of Oregon-Davis High School and she is presently employed at Affiliated Family Dentist.
