ENGAGED I - Sy ‘ U ♦ * * f Gifford and Marie Thomas, of East 4-B Road, Nappanee, announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Brenda Sue Thomas, to Terry Lee Anspaugh, son of Thomas and Dixie Anspaugh, Walkerton. The bride-elect is a 1982 graduate of Bremen High School and is employed at the First State Bank, of Bourbon. Her fiance is a 1980 graduate of John Glenn High School and is employed as a welder at Utilomaster, in Wakarusa. The couple is planning a September 10th wedding at the home of the groom's parents with a reception following at the Walkerton American Legion. IVY TECH EXPANDS MEDICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM Indiana Vocational Technical College will expand course offerings in Medical Assisting this fall. A new Associate Degree program will be introduced and, for the first time, evening courses will be offered in the field. The evening courses are designed to meet the continuing education needs of working medical assistants and individuals in other careers who are interested in an allied health profession combinging clinical and administrative skills. The evening courses to be offered are in medical terminology, Anatomy and physicology, medical insurances, and comprehensive review for the Certified Medical Assistant exam. In addition, nine new courses are being added to the present curriculum. leading to an Associate Degree. These include five new clinical courses. “Holistic Approach To Health", "Community Health", "Medical Assistant Ginical Procedures 111", "Disease Conditions", and "General Microbiology”. Four new medical administration courses, "Business Communications”, "Medical Transcriptions II", "Medical Office Management", and “Data And/Or Word Processing" will also be added. The Associate Degree courses is being introduced in response to the expanded expectations of medical assistant employers in the areas of office management and patient education, as well as expanded criteria for maintaining certification. Associate Degree program courses are open to medical assistants with technical certificates. Certified Medical Assistants and new students coming into the medical assistant program. Orientation/registration meetings will be held August 17. 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., room 227, Ivy Tech's South Bend campus, 1534. W. Sample Street.
