MANY NEW, MANY FREE THINGS AT ’BB INDIANA STATE FAIR How much can be new and how much is free at the 1988 Indiana State Fair? Much, much more than fairgoers can take in within a day's time. The cost of admission — that’s new. Four “Carload Days” on Aug. 17, 18, 24 and 25 allow admission for a carload — drive the wagon —of fairgoers until 5:00 p.m. for only $7.00, including parking. “Midnight Madness Specials” from 10:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. on both Fridays allow SI.OO per person admission, with SI.OO parking. The Midway offers discount ride packages on eight days during the Fair. Earlybirds can enjoy an “All You Can Eat" Breakfast served daily in front of the Swine Building. Overeaters will discover more comfort zones for post-feast relaxation than in previous years. New foods have been added to the Fair’s extensive culinary comucopa, including yougurt, apple dumplings, oriental food, onion rings and a homegrown salad bar. Celebrity Showmanship competition will be combined with the 4-H Spotlite livestock sale. 4-H’ers and their activities are featured more predominantly this year. Enjoy a berth on a bench in the Fair’s new gazebo in front of the University Building. Constructed as part of the “new” Indiana State Fair, the gazebo was donated by Nationwise Auto Parts. Featuring three clocks with foot-high numerals, the gazebo is the site for Preview Night’s ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Milk Buds and the Schottler Family Singers figure as part of a daily free entertainment scene at the Machinery Field. Don't miss the “World of Masonry" competition between apprentice bricklayers. Who will be “top trowel?” Hook’s Racing Pigs will burn up the track at the Sports Strip and it doesn't cost a penny to root for the winner. For the first time, videotapes of individual performances in Talent, Band Day and Cheerleader competitions are available for $20.00 per videotape. Planning a birthday, holiday or anniversary event? If it involves a cake, the one you make may be good enough to win the Betty Crocker Frosting Mix Cake Decorating Contest. Amateurs and professionals may enter.
