Mr. and Mrs. Travis Holmes and Mrs. Ethel Rauen returned home Monday evening, after spending the past few days in Monett, Missouri, visiting with Frank and Mary Rauen and also their daughter and granddaughter, Kari Williams and her husband, Jay, in Springfield, Missouri. Looking back, it used to be so much fun to board the Cardinal Bus at the Newstand Restaurant, in North Liberty, and go to downtown South Bend and do our Christmas shopping the day after Thanksgiving and have lunch at Woolworth’s 5 and 10 or Kreske's 5 and 10 store and return home in the evening. The bus dropped passengers off at the Newstand and to think that restaurant closed its doors last Wednesday. Now we have no resaurant in downtown North Liberty to get a cup of coffee, how sad.
