Pam and Dave Craft were visitors of their grand-uncle Ray Wheat, who is 90 years old and the picture of perfect health, in Laguna Hills. California, for the past weekend. L. Ralu Smith Lantz was recently elected president of the MuncieDelaware Country Bar Association at its annual golf outing and dinner held at the Delware Country Club. She is the first woman to be elected president of this 100-member bar association in the many years of its existence. Lantz has served as a member of the Board of Directors, treasurer, secretary and vicepresident in consecutive years previous to this election. Lantz has also served as deputy prosecuting attorney for the 46th judicial circuit of Indiana. She is in general practice of law with offices at 924 Jackson St., Muncie. She is the daughter of Raymond and Arlu Smith. Route 2, Walkerton. tober 12. They are camping this week out at Potato Creek State Park. Steve Foresman was adimtted to St. Joseph Medical Center, on Monday, for treatments. Jay and Rhonda Richmond, son of Rev. Charles and Jovce Richmond. of Atoscadero. California, will arrive home on Friday and be at the Church of Christ on Sunday where he will participate in the morning worship service. Jay would love to see his friends as this is his first visit since he got married. Don’t forget to help out on Saturday at the North Liberty Park for the Planting Party. Claude Sheneman was dismissed from St. Joseph Medical Center, on Tuesday morning. He looks great and is doing fine. Fourteen senior citizens of the Church of Christ enjoyed dinner together Saturday over at Peddler’s Village and then toured all the shops while there. About 90 retired neighbors and friends gathered at noon, on Tuesday, at the Pine Creek Church,
where all enjoyed a bontiful dinner. The dinner was prepared by the ladies of the church. Harold Roush, of Plymouth, newly elected president, presided at the meeting and also gave the noonday prayer. All signed a card to be sent to Mary Knepp, who underwent surgery at St. Joseph Medical Center, on Monday. Winners of the pumpkin table decorations with faces and filled with flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Inman Whitmer, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Smith, Claude McEndarfer, Ethel Crawford. Martha McCrosky and Ethel Wenner. Gladys Sheneman then presented Doralle Kennedy, of LaPaz, who works for United Telephone, Plymouth office, who showed slides of “Wander Indiana", which was most interesting as there is so much to go and see right here in good old Indiana. The next get-together will be the first of November and this will be the annual turkey dinner and Thanksgiving program. Mary Knepp, who underwent surgery last Monday, in St. Joseph Medical Center, returned to her home on Sunday. The Over The Hill Gang of the Church of Christ, will meet on Thursday with a carry-in dinner, at 12:00 noon, in the Family Center and then will take a trip to Bowen Library, at Bethel College. Were you able to remember the four grocery stores on the Main Street, in North Liberty? They were in business back in the 50’s
and 60’s. Rember Cecil Williams Grocery Store located in what is now Harvey's Dime Store. Frank Fetzer and Ott Smith worked in the meat department. Ted Hevel had his grocery where the Treasure Chest is located. The Huffman Brothers owned the store where Kerry Knape’s dentist office is. Later they sold out to Kenneth Murphy and he called his store Economy Food Market. Then after the Wilcox Brothers built the new supermarket where the old North Liberty School used to stand. Kenneth went there to work. Then Ivo Peddycord also had a grocery store located where Trobaugh Auto Parts is now. There was also the Locker Plant and Wilcox Wholesale. 1 well remember all these stores because they all bought fresh dressed fryers from us when we raised thousands of chickens back then for stores in South Bend, Walkerton and North Liberty and to many restaurants in the area. Another question, do any of you remember when Harley’s Superett was in town? Tom and Elsie Frame, of Atlanta. Georia, and John and Anna Frame and daughter, Jessica, of Savannah, Georgia, spent last week with Edith Rupel. ENGAGED Mr. and Mrs. Gerald L. Stephen Paul Maxwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald W. Maxwell, Austin. Texas. The bride-elect is a 1979 graduate of North Liberty High School and a 1983 graduate of Ball State University. She is currently teaching mathematics at New Castle High School. The gr<x>m-to-be is a 1971 graduate of Justin F. Kimball High School, in Dallas, Texas and attended California State University through 1975. He is currently the head coach of a United States Swimming Program, in Indianapolis. He is also the varsity swimming coach at Ben Davis High School. A November 28 wedding ts planed at Speedway United Methodist Church.
