Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dipert, of. Koontz Lake, have been enjoying the visit of their daughter, Mrs. Arlene Affel, of Thousand Oaks, California. She has been here for the past two weeks. The Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner meeting will be held on Saturday evening, at the clubhouse, with a pot luck dinner served as usual with volunteer help in the kitchen. All members and their guests are welcome to attend and bring a guest. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Knowlton entertained on Sunday for their grandson. Ryan Knowlton’s 10th birthday. many nice gifts. The business meeting of the Koontz Lake Conservation Club will be held on Friday evening, at 7-00 n.m.. at the clubhouse. All members are invited to attend and help make the decisiotfsof the club. Mrs. Brian Buckles and son. Kyle, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Mrs. John Guttman, of Wakarusa. were guests of Mrs. Bertha Urbin on Friday, taking her out for dinner. They also visited With Mr. and Mrs. Robert Urbin. Mrs. Alta Andrews returned home from a week visit with friends in Shaftsburg, Michigan. Mrs. Dan Riper brought her home and remained here for a couple of days and enjoyed attending the Walkerton Fall Festival. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Urbin had dinner Saturday evening with 14 members of the “Metzger Cousins” at Macri's Villa Capri, in South Bend. Others present were from Logansport. Granger. South Bend, Mishawaka and Peoria, Illinois.
A cousins campout was held last weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Shaw, North Liberty. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Herald Hostetler, Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn. Sr., and Mrs. Goldie Skinner. They were was perfect with the exception of some rain on Saturday, they were invited into the home of the Shaw's to view pictures of former campouts of the group with lots of laughs and memories. The annual Wisler family reunion was held, on Sunday, at Stuntz & Hochstetler Pine Forest. There were 74 present coming from Michigan, Illinois and various places in Indiana. The birthday of Miss Tamara Hellinga, of Middlebury, was celebrated on Saturday evening with a dinner in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hellinga. The following were present, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beagles, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Beagles and Scott. Mr. and Mrs. Tim Beagles and son, Mrs. Phyllis Hellinga, of Plymouth, and Mr. Tom Hellinga and son, of Plymouth. The Raymond Beagles remained in Middlebury until Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Kerchaert entertained with an evening dinner. on October 8, for his sister. Mary Shirk, of South Bend, who was celebrating her 91st birthday. Other guests were Sylvia Shirk, South Bend; Mrs. Bernice Piefer. Kingsbury; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kerchaert; Mrs. Fern Kerchaert and Mrs. Saundra Ochs, all of Walkerton. Mrs. Esther Gerber spent a week in Charleston. South Carolina, with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gerber. A highlight of the visit was a reception for Robert who has passed the National Council of Architectural Registration Board Exam and is now a licensed architect.
Mr. and Mrs. Derrick (Valerie) Adkins, of Walkerton,* are the proud parents of a baby girl, Katie Nicole, born on October 8. She weighed in at eight pounds, four ounces and was 20'/j inches long. She has a sister. Jessica Jean, at home. Maternal grandparents are Mr. Jack Wise. Walkerton, and Mrs. Beverly Hook. Gary. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Adkins. North Liberty. NOTICE The John Glenn girls volleyball game on Thursday. October 15 against South Central which was originally scheduled to be played at Glenn, will now be played at South Central. The match will start at 6:30 p.m. FAN BUS TO NEW PRAIRIE The fan bus for the varsity football game at New Prairie on Friday, October 16 will leave Tyner and North Liberty at 6:00 and John Glenn at 6:15. Cost is adults SI.OO and students 50 cents. ELECT OFFICERS The St. Joseph County Scottish Rite Club held their annual dinner and Ladies’ Night on Saturday, October 10, at the American Legion. Walkerton. A delicious dinner was served by the American Legion Auxiliary. Mr. Albert Brenner, Koontz Lake, was elected president; Mr. John G. Harbaugh. CUB SCOUT NEWS Welcome to the 18 new Cub Scouts and their families to Pack 293. Two dens are meeting at different places this year. A Walkerton Den meets on Wednesday evenings after school and den leader is Pat Savoie. Another Den meets in Tyner at the United Methodist Church, on Thursday from 4:00 to 5:15 p.m. • Den leader is Dorothy Jacobs.
