About 200 people attended “Talent Night" out at the Church of Christ. Sunday evening. Ted Woolett was in charge of the first part of the program. Then all were invited back to the new Family Center for ice cream that was made by Walt and Sherry Lentine and Evan and Patty Henry. The tables were beautifully decorated with ice cream cones, colored streamers, nut cups and colored balloons all over the place. All kinds of toppings could be added to the ice cream just like at Ponderosa. Then all went back to the sanctuary and Ron Ebersole was in charge of the last half of the program. Many talents of ail kinds were enjoyed by those present. It was a fun night and one that will be always remembered. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Balsley, of Lakeland. Florida, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Creech, on Pierce Road. The Potato Creek Festival was well attended again this year, even though it was very hot. was delicious. All seemed to really enjoy themselves meeting old friends who came back home for the festival. The North Liberty Republican Party will hold their caucus this Thursday, August 20, at 7:30 p.m., at the Chamber of Commerce Building, 105 W. Center. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Stanley, of Kansas City, Kansas, were visiting relatives and friends and were staying at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Trobaugh, recently. No one seems to know exactly when we had a stop light in North Liberty. I have been told it was way back in the 30's. Can anyone tell me and what really did happen to that stop light? There was a lot of close calls again during the Festival. Call me, Gladys Sheneman. Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Bob Balsley entertained the following with a cookout for his brother, Allen and wife, Ellen, Tonya and Vaughn Balsley, Edna Steele and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Creech. Lola Pavey attended the 50th
wedding anniversary, held on Sunday afternoon, at the Plymouth Country Club, in honor of her brother, Albertus Drake, and his wife. Altha Croy spent the weekend with her grandmother, Lisa Croy, of Irish Hills Apartments, in South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Schlemmer and Mary’s sister, Martha, of Virginia, and her sister, Kathren, of South Bend, called on Edna Knepp, on Friday. Saturday callers of Mrs. Knepp were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Saville, of Lakeville. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Eskridge celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in their home, on Sunday afternoon. Their two sons, James, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Richard, of Mishawaka, and their families, hosted the affair. Many of the friends, relatives and neighbors stopped by to wish them well. Sunday, August 23, the LaPaz Church of God will be in charge of the 8:30 a.m. church service out at Peppermint Hill at Potato Creek State Park for the campers. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Sheneman spent Sunday afternoon at the Ray Myers cottage, at Fish Lake, where they watched the pontoon boat parade. About 20 boats all decorated took part in the parade. Christmas was the them of Gene and Norma Patrick's pontoon, along with their elves, who were Duff and Diane Hevel, Charles and
lone Lloyd. Hari Shaffer and Brandon Stull. All enjoyed lunch afterwards at the Charles Lloyd cottage, along with all their families. Sunday morning Allen Balsley preached at the First Baptist Church and on Sunday evening he showed slides of his trips to the Holy Land. David and Margie Trobaugh had her brothers and father over for a fish fry recently. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Stanley, Mr. James Stanley and friend, and Mr. O. K. Stanley. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Arelt and daughter, Angie, celebrated Angie's 10th birthday by taking her to Brookfield Zoo, in Chicago, last Friday. Jackie Singleton, of Huntington, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Singleton. Donna Steele, of Clearwater, Florida, is a house guest of Guy and Ruth Ann Rizek, while here visiting her sister, Enid Liggett and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Marie Majerick and daughter, were visiting with Margie and David Trobaugh and Kenneth and Betty Stanley recently. Callers of the Claude Shenemans on Friday and Saturday, during the Festival, were Charles Sheneman, Theda Carlson and B. Odaffer, all of South Bend; Kenny and Susie Teter, of Mishawaka; and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Baughman, of Plymouth.

Frank and Carol Adkins and son, Marc, returned last week after spending the past two weeks with her parents, Len and Margaret Mynott, in Cambridge, England. They had a very enjoyable trip. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Lemert and family, of St. Louis, Michigan, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Lemert, who are now living in North Liberty.
