BEST OF SHOW 1& nnHl^ a fl • Patti Christensen received the “Best Os Show” award for grades six, seven and eight, at this year’s Tri Kappa Art Show. Patti is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Carl Christensen. She is an eighth grade student at Urey Middle School. Pattis was also the first and second place winner in the photography division for grades six, seven and eight.

PRESBYTERIANS ENJOY MOTHER-DAUGHTER SOCIAL The Presbyterian MotherDaughter Social was held on Saturday evening, May 9, at 6:00 p.m. in the Church Fellowship Hall with 44 attending. Mrs. Harold (Evelyhn) Eddinger, president of the Women's Association, welcomed everyone and led in the unison blessing. A delicious carry-in salad/dessert bar featured with ham, rolls and butter and beverages being furnished. The theme of the program was "Remember Mother". In charge of the dinner and program were Mrs. Eddinger, Mrs. Norman (Charlotte) Hostetler, Mrs. Catherine Theis and Mrs. Esther Gerber. Following supper, accompanied by Mrs. Myron (Katie) Mullet, the group sang "Faith Os Our Mothers” and "A Song For Little Mothers”. ial recognitions were presentea to Mrs. Elizabeth Martin, mother with the most daughters/granddaughters present; Mrs. Gerber, newest-most recent grandmother; Mrs. W. R. (Betty) Winkley, of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, lady who traveled the farthest; Mrs. Daniel (Tammy) Bealor, youngest mother; and Mrs. Myrtle Eddinger, oldest grandmother. Mrs. Hostetler, UPW treasurer, was in charge of the drawing presentations for Dairy Queen gift certificates for the children and trays of flowers for the adults. The program and the evening of fun and fellowship was closed with the group singing "Good Night". The Lord’s Prayer was then said in unison for the benediction. LINCOLN TOWNSHIP CLUB MEETS The Lincoln Township Homemakers Extension Club met at the Walkerton Community Building on Tuesday, May 5, with 16 members answering roll call which was "What 1 like about May". The salute to the flag and the club creed were repeated. The song of the month, "When It’s Apple Blossom Time” and “Mother” as well as "American” were songs led by Helen Pogodzinski with Lois Sherland at the piano. Martha Mull gave a reading about some of the things we old timers did now know about in the days way back when. Nedra Smith gave the treasurer’s report and

Alta Williams read the minutes. Martha Young served delicious cake, coffee, tea and nuts. All played bingo with many prizes won. All members are invited to Johnson Township on June 10 to be with their club. Hope everyone can attend. Lois Sherland and Martha Mull will serve on the next committee. SWIM CLASSES AT OREGON-DAVIS SCHOOL Swim lessons for the summer of 1987 are tentatively scheduled for two sessions. The first session will be from June Bto 18. The second session will be from June 22 to July 2. Lessons will be conducted Monday through Thursday. Cost for each session will be $20.00. Lessons and times to be offered are: Toddlers and Infants 12:00 - 12:30; Beginners, 12:30 - 1:15; Advanced Beginners, 1:15 - 2:00;

Open swim hours for the summer will be 2:45 - 3:45 with the cost SI.OO for adults and 50 cents for students, or family for $2.00. Lessons and Open Swim are available to all area residents. LADIES WEDNESDAY TWILIGHT GOLF LEAGUE The Hamlet Ladies Wednesday Twilight League played on May 6 with Eleanor Harness winning A Flight with a 36, Maureen Mejacz, the B Flight with a 37; and Zola Ferch, C Flight with 42. Game winners were Betty Helton, Betty Nordstrom, Zola Ferch and Vickie Vermilyer. Billie Bilko scored a chip-in.
