FALCON GIRLS BASKETBALL CAMP IN JUNE The John Glenn girls basketball camp, for grades four through eight, will be held June 1-12, weekdays only, at the John Glenn High School gym. Those in grades four, five and six will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m, and the seventh and eighth grade girls will meet from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sign up according to the grade level this past school year. There is an SB.OO fee charged which includes a camp T-shirt and trophies that will be presented for various contest winners. Instruction on an individual basis

Barb Osowski is camp supervisor and sing up slips must be signed and turned in by May 20 at the school office Poppy Day Sat., May 16 In Walkerton American Legion Auxiliary volunteers and community volunteers will distribute the familiar red, handcrafted poppies honoring America’s war dead on May 16, designated as Poppy Day by Orville Easterday Unit 189, Walkerton.

Planned to coincide with the • Memorial Day holiday, the annual , event pays tribute to those veterans who have died in the last 70 years. It also honors the millions of ' Americans who have willingly served their country in seven decades. It serves as well as honors the I veteran with all proceeds from the distribution invested in local programs for the benefit of the Veteran and his/her family. Each nine-piece poppy is made by veterans for veterans in Auxili-ary-sponsored Poppy Shops that supplement physical and psychological therapy needed by hospitalized and disabled veterans. The Auxiliary provides the materials and the volunteers. The veteran makes the poppy and is paid a small amount for each painstakingly made flower. For some, it is their only income. No matter what the cost of maintaining and supplying the Poppy Shops, the memorial poppy is never sold, but given in exchange for a contribution. The poppy program has been part of Auxiliary programming for

Orville Easterday Unit 189 American Legion Auxiliary SET WALKERTON YOUTH T-BALL REGISTRATION Registration for boys and girls for the 1987 Walkerton Jaycee Youth T-Ball League will be held from Friday, May 8 through Saturday, May 16 in the lobby of the Farmers State Bank of Wyatt in Walkerton. Registrations may also be phoned in at 586-3131. Any area youth is eligible if they are 5 years old by May 1 and not older than 8 years of age before May 1. The registration fee will be

$17.00 per child and includes T-shirt, hat and all the necessary equipment. ELEMENTARY CHOIR TO SING AT SCOTTSDALE MAU The Walkerton Elementary Choir will be singing and entertaining for the shoppers at Scottsdale Mall, South Bend, on Saturday, May 23. You will be able to find them in front of Ayres store on the lower level. Show times will be 11:00, 1:00 and 3:00, so stop by, rest your feet, and listen to the boys and girls.
