The Walkerton Elementary P.T.A., the North Liberty P T A. and the Ladies from St. Patrick’s sponsored the second annual Spell Bowl Tuesday, April 14. for grades three, four and five St. Patrick's was the host for this year's com-
petition which was held in the gym at North Liberty Elementary School. The winning school received a plaque and each member of the winning team received a Webster Intermediate Dictionary. Each participant received acer-
tificate. This year’s winning school was Walkerton Elementary. SCHOOLS RECEIVE ACCREDIATION RENEWAL Principal Brent Kaufman, of North Liberty School, and principal Mike Shuler, of John Glenn High School, announce that the schools’ North Central Association accreditation has been extended through the 1986-87 school year. The association reviews each year the schools’ meeting of NCA standards. Both North Liberty and John Glenn have been commended by the association for having no violalations of standards. The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools serves a 19-state region encompassing the middle third of the nation, West Virginia to Colorado. North Dakota to Arkansas. The John Glenn FFA Chapter held their annual Parent-Member Banquet, on Wednesday. April 22. at the high school cafeteria Scott Stump, the 1986-87 State FFA president was the keynote speaker for the evening. Mr. Stump handed out awards to the following members. Andy Millar. Andy Bachtel and George Rough for placing second in the 1986 State Tractor Trouble Shooting contest; Lisa Dankert received top citrus salesperson; Julie Birk received a pin for public speaking and proficiency winners were Phil Braun, agriculture mechanics; Julie Birk, diary production second district; Ted Hesters, diversified livestock, third district; Shannon Pohl, home and farmstead; Ted Hesters, horse proficiency. second district; and Lowell Taylor, outdoor recreation, second district. Jennifer Einspahr received the DeKalb Award; Star Chap ter Farmer went to Julie Birk and Jennifer Einspahr for their achievements in the FFA. Julie Birk and Jeff Verhaeghe received their State Hoosier Farmer Degrees. Jeff Verhaeghe also received the District Star Farmer and Sectional Star Farmer awards. Honorary chapter farmer's award went to Bill Millar and Dennis Birk for helping the chapter build in skills. The Chinese developed the use of paper about 100 B.C
