The John Glenn Band Boosters Select Judges For Upcoming Arts & Crafts Show Nan Barkdull and Ayanna Udongo, of South Bend, will serve as judges for Tri Kappa Arts and Crafts Show, April 25. according to Lori Jacob and Pam Craft, cochairwomen of the annual event. Ms. Barkdull was a founding member of Gallery Aquinas (now On Exhibit Gallery) in South Bend. She attended the Studior for Young Artists at IUSB before pursuing a fine arts major there. She had been a member of the Artist’s Committee for the Genesis Gallery at the Colfax Cultural Center. In February, 1987. she coordinated, arranged and curated the paintings of 17 Haitian artists for the “Spirit Os Freedom” exhibit at the Colfax Center. In April, 1980. she had a onewoman exhibit in May at the Genesis Gallery. Her awards include a scholarship to the Studio for Young Artists; a Gold Key in the Scholastic Art Competition; third place in the 1982 Red Cross Communication Contest for a mural depicting the history of the Red Cross; and, in 1985, an Indiana Arts Commission Fellowship for studio space at the Colfax Cultural Center. Ms. Udongo is the director of the Colfax Cultural Center. She is a panelist on the Arts in Culturally Diverse Communities Committee of Arts Midwest, Minneapolis. Her art education has included courses at Indiana Vocational Technical College, four years of freelance photography study and private drawing instruction with sculptor, Jake Webster. In October. 1984, Ms. Undongo co-founded the Photographer's Collective and is currently the group's coordinator. She was also a co-founder of the Inner Vision Artists Council. Since January, 1985, she has coordinated arts exhibitions and presentations at the Colfax Cultural Center. In 1986 and 1987, Ms. Udongo's photography was featured during Memorial Hospital’s Cultural Arts Program for Black Heritage Month. The public showing for the Arts and Crafts Show will be from noon until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 25. at the John Glenn High School Commons. 55 SAVES LIVES K.. — J TT
