Mrs. Margaret DeMycr returned to her home on Saturday evening after spending the winter months in Lake Placid, Florida. Mrs. Libby DeMyer and two daughters, flew down to Florida and helped with the drive back to Indiana. Mrs. John Matousek returned home of Tuesday evening of last week, from Skokie. Illinois, where she had been for three weeks. Miss Dana Steinke, daughter of Carl and Peggy Steinke, of Indianapolis, was united in marriage on Sunday, April 5, to David Aieding, of Indianapolis. Her grandmother. Mrs. Martha Mull, of Walkerton, attended the ceremoney held in Indianapolis and Miss Laura Tinkey, Walkerton, was one of the bridesmaids. Mrs. Vylet Baker was in Bremen on Sunday for a pre-Easter dinner

at the home of her granddaughter, Traci Richard, and two sons. Others attending were from Bremen including Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Baker. Mrs. Vylet Baker returned home in the afternoon to attend the 25 th wedding anniversary open house of DuWayne and Becky Burch, in North Liberty. The open house was hosted by the children of the Burches with a large attendance on hand. There will be no meeting of the Koontz Lake Conservation Club on Saturday evening due to the Easter holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ullery were in Wakarusa on Sunday afternoon to visit with her cousins, Fern and Marie Schriver and they also visited with Mrs. Lucille Rohrer while there. on Thursday, April 9, after spending 10 days in Lake Placid, Florida, visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Burch. Side trips were enjoyed at Cyprus Gardens and Sea World. Mr. and Mrs. Brad Gillies and family, of Alexandria. Virginia, are spending a week here with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Gillies, of Koontz Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Greg Gillies and family, of Merrillville, were also guests for a few days. A surprise birthday party was held in honor of Gordon Hostetler, on Sunday evening, at Walkerton Shady Lanes. Guests were the Gordon Hostetler family and other members of the Hostetler group. It was truly a surprise to Gordon but everyone enjoyed the evening with pizza being served to the guests. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schortgen returned on Monday from Tavares, Florida, where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Herman Henry. Mr. and Mrs. Clell Fouts were in Huntington last Friday, to spend the day with her cousins. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Haney. Mrs. Cletus Horning and Mrs. John Zink, of Burlington, lowa, have been in the area visiting and on Monday they spent the evening with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Keeling. They are visiting with Mrs. Gerald Steele, of Elkhart, who will be entering General Hospital. Elkhart. Wednesday, for surgery. Chamber Sets Fall Festival For Oct. 9 & 10 Although Spring, with its display of beautiful flowers, is just beginning in our area, it is not too early to start generating ideas and suggestions and planning for the annual Walkerton Fall Festival to be held October 9 and 10. Myrna Daube, chairperson of the Festival Committee, presented her report on last year’s successful festival to the April meeting of the Board of Directors of the Walkerton Chamber of Commerce. She also presented thoughts and suggestions for consideration in directing the Festival this fall. The committee, headed by Myrna, is in need of members and helpers. All able and willing workers are welcome. New ideas and suggestions to improve the Festival and its operation are solicited. Drop by the Auto License Branch and present your ideas or your name to add to the group that makes the Fall Festival a success! While there, pick up a copy of the Indiana Festival Map & Guide for 1987-88. This brightly colored, illustrated and detailed brochure, produced by Hoosier Energy R.E.C., cooperatively with the Indiana Tourism Division, is free for the asking. It is available at many of the local retail outlets of Walkerton. Look for or ask for it, as it will add to your enjoyment and appreciation of your community, region and state.
