OBITUARIES

R. JAY HIGH R. Jay High. 26, of Maple Leaf Trailer Court. Lot 4, Plymouth, died Saturday. April 4, at 3:30 p.m. at his home. The death was ruled a suicide by Ward Byers, deputy coroner in Marshall County, who said High died from a gunshot wound in the chest. The Indiana State Police investigated the death. High was born October 13. 1960. in LaPorte. to Charles "Chuck” P. and Gaynelle Leigh (Denaut) High. He was a mechanic and a U. S. Army veteran. Surviving are his parents; a daughter, Mackenzie Lynn, in Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Michael (Terri) Finn, Niles, Michigan. Janet Tompkins and Betsy High, both of Walkerton; a brother. Jon Kincaid. Jr., of Peru. A memorial service was held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Nus-baum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, with Rev. Thomas M. Bowman officiating. passed away at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. April 5, after an auto-semi accident that occured at U. S. 30 and Whit-ley-Allen County Line Road. He was bom December 16. 1961, in South Bend, and was raised in the Plymouth area. He was a carpet installer. Surviving are his parents, Noble E. Young. Sr., and Fay A. Tener Young, formerly of Walkerton; five brothers, Carl, Tom, Terry and John, of Columbia City, and Walter. of Larwill; and three sisters, Charlotte Andrews, Fort Wayne, Patty Sue Young, Columbia City, and Loie Hill. Larwill. Services will be at 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City, with Rev. Bruce Wrightsman offfie Oak Street Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will be at the South Park Cemetery, Columbia Twp., Whitley County. FRANK ANDERSON Frank Roy Anderson, 82, 2810 S. Atlantic Ave., New Smyrna Beach, Florida, died March 11 at Ocean View Nursing Home, New Smyrna Beach. He was bom at Koontz Lake and moved to New Smyrna Beach 17 years ago. He retired as a manager of and A & P Supermarket in Chicago. Surviving are a brother, Harry, Walkerton; a sister, Agnes Freeberg, Petoskey, Michigan. Three brothers and a sister preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the U. S. Amry in World War 11 and a member of the First United Methodist Church, New Smyrna Beach. JUNE D. GRIFFIN June D. Griffin, 66, 28520 New Road, North Liberty, died at 10:26 p.m. Thursday, April 2, in her home after an illness. Mrs. Griffin was bom May 25, 1920, in Walkerton, and was a lifelong area resident. On June 29, 1942, in St. Louis. Mo., she married George H.

Griffin. He died August 5, 1986. She is survived by a duaghter. Ruth Rhodes, of Marcellus, Michigan; three sons, Jerry L., of North Liberty, Larry G., of South Bend, and Allan C., of Elkhart; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchild-ren; two sisters, Alta Drake and Joan Stokes, both of Walkerton; and two brothers, Jean Divine and Melvin Divine, both of Walkerton. There were no services. Cremation will take place with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County Cancer Society. The NusbaumElkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, was in charge of arrangements. ORE AN R. EAGLEBARGER Orean R. Eaglebarger, 78, 605 S. State Street, North Liberty, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday in Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, after an illness. He retired for the Mastic Corp, in 1977. Mr. Eaglebarger was born August 18, 1908, in Bourbon and moved to North Liberty in 1943, coming from South Bend. On July 6, 1936, in South Bend, he married Maxine G. Wallace, who survives. Also surviving are six daughters, Voila Nichols and Sally Jean Winkleman, both of North Liberty, Carolyn Henderson and Connie Eaglebarger, both of Walkerton, Dorothy Dunn, of LaPaz, and Shirlene Coffin, of Knox; five sons, Charles, South Bend, Gerald, Palos Hills, Illinois, Dennis, Berrien Springs, Michigan, Raymond, Hammond, and Gene, Cedar Lake; 26 grandchildren; 29 great-grand-children; three sisters, Pearl Miller and Helen Peli, both of Mishawaka, and Inez Mattern, Osceola; and one brother, Donald, of Osceola. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Beaver Creek Wesleyan Church, Rev. James H. Snell officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the A. M. Manuel Funeral Home, North Liberty. Pittman, 35, of Rural Route 3, Walkerton, was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Monday afternoon for the killing of Robert R. Laßere in February, 1986, in Walkerton. Superior Court Judge Jeanne J. Swartz imposed the standard sentence on the felony murder charge. The judge also sentenced Pittman to 10 years in prison on his burglary convicting in the same case with the two sentences to run concurrently. Pittman was convicted by a Superior
