J.G.H.S. P.T.S.A. List Reflections Winners At State The John Glenn High School P.T.S.A. is pleased to announce that the school has done it again! The P.T.S.A. Reflections contest held February 17, had 10 winners that went to state competition. Os those 10. six won at the State. No school corporation in the state had as many winners, let alone a single school. The second highest school was Urey with five. Even more fantastic is that John Glenn also had two eligible for the National Competition. This automatically brings a gift for the school from Reader’s Digest in honor of each student. This is the third year to enter the State Reflections contest and the third year John Glenn High School P.T.S.A. has had two National entries. The winners for 1987 are: Art. Lisa Martensen. 10th, second place. National Entry . $200.00 and an invitation to apply for a special scholarship. Literature. Anne Marie Crane. 11th grade, first. National Entry, trophy, set of World Book Encyclopedias. Photography. Lori Frame. 12th grade, second. Polarooid camera; John Fairres. 12th grade. 3rd. Polaroid camera; Matt Bowman, 11th grade, honorable mention. Polaroid camera. Music. Carmen Crane. 10th grade, third. SIOO. The two National Entries are in Chicago for that contest now. The rest of the Reflections will be on display at the State P.T.A. Convention on April 30, in Indianapolis. Urey Reflections Winners Total Five At State The Urey P.T.A. is proud to an nounce that five Urey students won at the Indiana State P.T.A. Reflections Contest. Each school is allowed only three entries in each of the categories: Literature. Visual Art. Photography and Music. The theme. ' Celebration, A Past To Remember, A Future To Mold”, for the local Reflections contest February 17, included 121 entries. Os those, nine went on to the State Competition and five won. Two of these are also eligible for the National Competition and will tour the United States for one year. National entries automatically are awarded a book from Reader's Digest sent to the school in their honor. The 1987 winners are: Art, Patti Christensen. Bth grade, first. National Entry . Literature. Jeff Pontius. Bth grade, honorable mention. Photography, three winners in two grade categories. Jodi McLaughlin. 6th grade. 2nd; Craig Ross. Bth grade, first. National Entry; and Greg Smith, second. NORTH LIBERTY YOUTH LEAGUE SMOKER SATURDAY, MAY 2 The North Liberty Youth League will host a Smoker on Saturday, May 2, from 7:00 to 11:30 p.m. at the F.O.P. on State Road 23.
