SOIL AND WATER STEWARDSHIP WEEK MAY 24-31 The St. Joseph County Soil and Water Conservation District will join the nationwide observance of Soil and Water Stewardship Week during the period of May 24-31, 1987 announced Bernard Byrd, chairman of the St. Joseph County SWCD. “Help. Hope, And Healing” is the theme for this year’s observance. This year's theme is drawing attention to the need for help, hope and healing to bind the economic and resource wounds on America’s farms and ranches. The survival and welfare of farmers and the land they till must be a matter of deep concern to all of us who eat food, wear clothes and build homes. Caring for the soil and water resources of this nation is a responsibility none of us can ignore . . . now .or in the future. As we celebrate Soil and Stewardship Week, the St. Joseph County SWCD encouarges each and everyone to give special thought to our precious soil and water resources which are basic to our survival. Materials especially designed to carry the 1987 message of Help, Hope and Healing are available for any clergyman, lay leaders or any civic or educational organization that is interested in participating in this special week. Sample packets, free of charge, can be obtained by calling the St. Joseph County SWCD at 291-2300 prior to April 13. Packets are available on a first-come, first serve basis. “Adopt A Family”; Homes Needed For Special Olympics Be somebody special to the family of a Special Olympian.
