SENIOR CITIZEN BOWLING NEWS Even though winter was finally making itselft felt, it did not "chill” the competition as the Senior Bowlers enjoyed another afternoon of fun and exercise. The ladies had 14 bowlers and saw some good scores recorded. The high scratch game was rolled by Mildred McKesson with a 168 total. June Baker’s 159 was followed by 154 totals bowled by Helen Bowman and Doris Crane. High handicap game also went to Mildred McKesson with a 229 game. It was followed by Doris Crane's 222, June Baker’s 215 and Helen Bowman’s 212. There was "no contest” for high series total as June Baker’s 450 was the only series total above 400. From the shouts of laughter and good natured comments, the ladies had a most enjoyable afternoon of fun and exerecise! Although there were only 10 gents bowling this week, there were some nice scores compiled. Jim Martin's 235 high scratch game bested Bud Weinman’s 206 and Harold Schweder’s 199. The high handicap game was also rolled by Jim, with a fine 285 total! It was followed by Bud’s 244 and Harold’s 225. The high series honors went to Harold, who had a nice 530 total, followed by Bud's 519 and Jim's 516. It was a good day of competition for the gents. More senior bowlers may easily be accomodated with the group on Wednesday afternoons. Come out and join a lively group of seniors. Escape the “hum-drum” of midwinter "cabin fever” and enjoy an
afternoon with your neighbors and contemporaries!

BOBCATS WIN TOURNEY (continued from page 1) pull away, the Cats also never trailed again although the lead was cut to two on five different occasions. LaVille & CMA Games Saturday night the Bobcats returned to gain a bit of revenge as they ousted LaVille, the team that had handed them their only loss this season eight days prior. The Cats led all the way against the more patient LaVille team who just couldn’t work that magic again after easily defeating John Glenn in the second game early Saturday afternoon. Blum and Budka were the two big offensive stars in this game as the Bobcats rolled to a 60-46 victory. Monday night, a big 16 point run in the late first quarter and early second period opened a margin the Bobcats were going to protect the rest of the night as their hustling defense forced Culver Military Academy into numerous errors and a four-man scoring thrust of 75 combined points made the difference. Blum led the Bobcats with 22, Joseph and Smalley each had 20 and David Brown had 13 for the Cats while Budka had a fine floor game as this underclassmen starting five demonstrated that they not only are a team of the future, but a team for right now. The supporting cast again provided some good minutes of relief for the starters as the Bobcats moved to their first-ever Bi-County crown since entering the tourney six years ago. LaVille Giris Drop Falcons From Bi-County The LaVille girls basketball team dropped the John Glenn girls from the 1987 Bi-County Tourney in the first round in a game delayed by weather until Tusday, January 20. The game, played at the Glenn gym, was never in much doubt as the big and talented Lancers dominated the entire way. Dawn Hosinski paced a very steady attack as she made four baskets in each of the first three quarters as LaVille was scoring 14 points in each of these quarters. She added two more baskets in the final stanza before the game was turned over to the reserves for 28 on the night, and did not shoot a single free throw. Seven other girls split the rest of LaVille’s other 24 points. Dawn Rhodes led eight girls who scored for Glenn with 12 points, also all on baskets. The Glenn record slipped to 2-11 with the loss while LaVille increased their winning record to 12-3 and eventually went on to 14-3 as they won the Bi-County title Monday night.
