Glenn To Meet LaVllle In First Round Os Tourney The pairings for the annual BiCounty Tourney this year, scheduled for the week of January 19 through the 24, found an unfavorable drawing develop for the boys varsity action. The luck of the draw this season put the four Marshall County teams, Bremen and Argos, and the two Culver teams, in the upper bracket, playing on Wednesday night, and on Thursday, the two teams considered the top of the field, undefeated Oregon-Davis, and the New Prairie Cougars, will meet in the first game at 6:30. This leaves the Glenn Falcons and host LaVille Lancers for the final first round game sometime around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday night. Not only does this draw hurt the balance of the playing power, it will probably affect the fan support as well with such pairings, it is for certain that should the better ranked team be separated in the draw, the crowd response would be greater. The semi-finals of the boys action will be played on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. with the Wednesday winners meeting, followed by the Thursday winners at approximately 8:30 p.m. The finals are set for 8:30 Saturday night, following the girls varsity finals, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. As has been the case, in conjunction with the boys action, there is again a girls varsity competition and both a boys and girls B-team competition. These games start on Monday evening. January 19. The format this year has the same pairings as the varsity to be held in the local gyms. Argos will play at Bremen, Culver Military visits Culver Community, OregonDavis visits New Prairie and Glenn will host LaVille. The sites will have three games each, the boys JV game starling at 5:30; the girls JV at 6:45; and the girls varsity games to follow at 8:00 p.m. Semi-final action for the girls varsity will be held Tuesday, at Bremen, with game times set for 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. On Saturday morning, January 24, Bremen will also host the JV teams and action will be played in two gyms starting at 9:00 am., with the second games at 10:30. At 12:00 noon, the boys Junior Varsity finals will be held in the main Bremen gym and at 1:30 p.m., the girls JV finals will follow. Tickets for the Bi-County for ail sessions at LaVille are on sale now at the John Glenn High School until Tuesday noon, January 20. The price is $6.00. The individual session tickets on sale at the door only, are $2.50 per session. The Glenn fan bus for the Thursday night games will leave Tyner and North Liberty at 6:15 p.m. and Glenn High School at 6:30 p.m. STARTING TIME FOR JIMTOWN GAME CHANGED The John Glenn boys varsity basketball game at Jimtown on Friday, January 30. will have a starting time of 6:30 p m. instead of 6:15 as printed on the schedules.
