Wysocki, of the Walkerton Police Department, will be among 80 officers who will graduate from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 19, 1986. The Academy is located one-half mile southwest of Plainfield. Indiana requires all non-elected law enforcement officers to successfully complete basic training within their first year of service. Failure to complete the training results in the officer losing the power of arrest. It is interesting to note that tax money is not used to support this program. There is no charge to the officer or department; instead, the training is funded through court costs paid by traffic violators and persons charged with criminal offenses.
