Marthe Malstaff was the chairperson assisted by Myrtle Smith. Dorothy Walsh. Martha Dipert and Annette Hesters. Fifteen members answered roll call with “Mv most prized Christmas gift of long ago ”. One guest. Nita Smith, and little Jeremy Hesters, were present. The tables were beautiful with Christmas flowers and little favors. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful tree prepared by Ted and Erma Jean Daube. After a delicious salad bar a short business meeting was held after the salute to the flag and the creed were repeated. Kathy Hostetler presided at the meeting and Alma Daube read the minutes of the last meeting. Our treasurer was absent so the meet-
ing was turned over to the committee. Myrtle Smith read a poem called "The Night Before Christmas In The Barn" and Alma Daube gave a reading "The 12 Days Os Harvesting" she found in The Farm Journal. It was very appropriate for farmers wives. Door prizes went to Alma Daube. Nita Smith, Josephine Smith and Annette Hesters. Carols were sung with Neva at the piano and Marthe Malstaff led the singing. There was a gift exchange and everyone went home wishing a Merry Christmas to all. There will be no meeting in January with Martha Mull and Hattie Bowers serving in February. ENJOY CHRISTMAS PARTY The Better Homes Extension Gub enjoyed their Christmas party at Leo’s Restaurant, on Monday evening, December 15, with 13 members and one guest. Mrs. Leon McKesson, present. Our smiling hostesses greeted us at the door and they were Mrs. Richard Ruby and Mrs. Harn’ Masterman. Following the delicious meal and salad bar. Christmas games were played directed by Mrs. Ruby.
Winners were Mrs. Allan Eddinger, Mrs. Bert Swanson, Mrs. Albert Ray, Mrs. Ron Shilling, Mrs. Thelma Watts and Mrs. Masterman. A cute version of the poem "Twas The Night Before Christmas" and another one called "Christmas Eve” were told by Mrs. Ruby, who then presented everyone with a Christmas magnet. A gift exchange was held and members then drew for secret pals for the coming year. Roll call was answered by telling about a visit for the holidays of someone you haven't seen for a long time. Happy birthday was sung for Mrs. Masterman and Mrs. Dale Ullery. Cultural arts chairman. Mrs. John Wathen, shared with us the nice article on an Old-Fashioned Christmas. Mrs. Harold Eddinger led us in singing Christmas carols to end a most pleasant evening. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year were heard from all as we departed. their December theme, “Look For Beauty In Christmas". It was everywhere in the United Presbyterian Church dining room when 48 members and three guests gathered for their Christmas luncheon and program. Garlands of greenery, ceramic miniatures, sparkling lights, candles, holiday baskets and the atomic odor of food helped make the day a festive occasion. Devotions were given by Helen Bowman, concluding with the club chorus singing "The Christmas Story”, with Mildred Casey directing and accompanying the group. Helen Hunter once again enchanted the audience with her telling of two thought provoking stories: "The Necklace” and "A String Os Beads”. Mrs. Hunter concluded the program with a reading from the Chicaco Evening Gub. Loaves of homemade bread, donated by Mr. and Mrs. George Behnke. Koontz Lake, were raffled and the lucky winners were Ruth Ullery and Mildred Casey. Hostesses were Marjorie Curl, chairman, Dorothea Brenner.
