Salvation Army Drive Ends Here This Saturday The local Salvation Army Kettle Drive will end in Walkerton this Saturday with members of the Walkerton Americna Legion Post 189 manning the kettles from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the corners by Jacob Drugs and Ray & Kenny's Super Valu. This will com pel te the lone source of funding the local committee has to work with both at the holiday time and throughout the year. This past Saturday, with members of the Walkerton Lions Gub and Epsilon Chi Tri Kappa chapter ringing the bells, a total of $257.82 was raised to bring the total for the First two Saturdays to $546.17. Once again the local committee would like to thank each and everyone of the volunteers who serve as bell ringers in bad weather and good, to make the work of the local committee possible. They also say “Thank You" to all of you who drop your donations into the kettles to help those in need at this time of year as well as throughout the year when needed. • Without all of you none of this would be possible. CHRISTMAS CANTATA THIS SUNDAY The North Liberty Church of Christ Choir will present a Christmas Cantata “First Christmas", by Joe E. Parks, Sunday, December 21, at 7:30 p.m. Soloists are Sharon Ebersole, Lisa Morris, Cindy Woolet and Ransom Ebersole. The choir is under the direction of Wilda Henry. COMMUNTTY PANTRY MEETING CANCELLED The Community Pantry meeting set for Tuesday, December 23. at the United Methodist Church, has been cancelled. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING The Walkerton Town Board will have a public hearing on December 22. 1986 at 7:00 p.m. The hearing will be for the purpose of rate reduction for the electric utility. This rate reduction is a direct result of purchasing power through partial requirements. 2tdlß PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE On Wednesday, December 24th, the Walkerton Presbyterian Church. 512 Georgia Street, will have a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 8:30 p.m. E.S.T. One of the special features this year will be the beautiful luminaries outlining the driveway. These luminaries were made by Catherine Theis and Harold Eddinger. The public is encouraged to attend this Christmas Eve Service and celebrate the birth of our Lord. OREGON TOWNSHIP SENIORS TO MEET DECEMBER 18 The Oregon Township Senior Citizens will meet on Thursday. December 18. at the Koontz Lake Conservation clubhouse, at 12:30 p.m. C.S.T., for their Christmas gathering. You are to bring a covered dish and your own table service. The meat will be donated and prepared by the Guards of the Koontz Lake Supermarket. Come and enjoy the holiday dinner with friends and neighbors.

CHRISTMAS FOOD DRIVE FOR PANTRY AT UREY MIDDLE SCHOOL jjll Am Urey Middle School continued a long tradition by having its annual Christmas Food Drive. The students pictured below are seventh and eighth grade Student Council members who helped sponsor and coordinate the drive. They are as follows: Cinda Marks, Paige Edison, Tara Hill, Sheri Fansler, Andrea Brems, Patti Christensen, Tuan Hesters, John Johnson, Brandon Northam and Ryan Peterson. The students and staff wish the community a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The Urey Middle School Student Council sponsored a Christmas Food Drive from December 2 - 16. Thanks to the efforts of the students and the contributions from parents, grandparents and relatives. dose to 700 food items were collected. The top four homerooms collecting the most food items were Mrs Muessel (154), Mrs. Chamberlin (123), Miss Bean (76), and Mrs. Brooks (59). A special thanks was given to Mrs. Muessel’s homeroom who used the $15.00 they won in the door decorating competition to buy food for the food drive. The food was boxed by Mrs. Muessel's homeroom and student volunteers. Mr. Reese and several strong students took the food over to the Community Food Pantry where it will be distributed to needy families in the area. The student Council was very pleased with the success of the food drive. They feel very proud that Urey was able to help the less fortunate and wish to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the drive. O-D BOBCATS IN ACTION TWICE THIS WEEKEND The Oregon-Davis basketball teams will travel to North Judson on Friday. December 19. with tip-off of the B-Team action set for 6:00 p.m. C.S.T. A fan bus will leave the high school at 4:45 p.m. On Saturday. December 20. the Bobcats will host Boone Grove at 6:00 p.m. C.S.T. TIME CHANGE ON PERFORMANCE OF “THE NUTCRACKER’’ The Southold Dance Theatre’s production of “The Nutcracker", on Sunday. December 21, at Elkhart Memorial High School, has been changed from 4:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
CHRISTMAS STORY HOUR DECEMBER 20TH The Koontz Lake Library will hold a Christmas Story Hour December 20, at 1:30 p.m. slow time. Andy Borrelli will be the story teller. The children will do a craft project. Treats will be given. HOLIDAY CLOSING The Mission Thrift Store appreciates all the donations that have been given this past year. The store will be closed the week of December 21 and December 28 so please do not leave any donations during these two weeks. Thanks again to the community for their support of the store. SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TO WALKERTON Santa Gaus will be coming to Walkerton on Saturday, December 20. and will arrive at Ray & Kenny’s Super Valu on the Walkerton Volunteer Firemen's red fire truck, at 12:00 noon and stay until 3:00 p.m. The visit of Santa is sponsored by the Walkerton Jaycees. You may also have your child's picture taken, at a cost of SI.OO, with Santa. There will be candy for the kids. Santi Claus To Visit With Kids In North Liberty Santa Claus will be visiting all the youngsters in North Liberty, on Saturday, December 20, at 10:00 a.m., at the fire station. Treats will be on hand for the children. BUS SCHEDULES TO HOLIDAY TOURNEY GAMES Fan buses for the Holiday Tourney to be played at Culver this Thursday and Friday are as follows: Thursday Night On Thursday, Glenn meets Triton in the second game, approximately 8:00 p.m. The fan bus will leave Tyner and North Liberty at 5:45 p.m. and Glenn High School at 6:00 p.m. On Friday night, if the Junior Varsity team wins Wednesday at Argos, they would be playing the first game. The fan bus will leave Tyner and North Liberty at 4:15 p.m. and Glenn at 4:30 (as close to these times as possible). If the Junior Varsity loses, the fan bus will leave Tyner and North Liberty at 5:45 and Glenn High School at 6:00 p.m. The charges for the fan buses will be SI.OO for adults and 50 cents for students each night.

Glenn To Meet Triton In Opener Os Holiday Tourney The John Glenn Falcons will play Triton in the first round of the Culver Holiday Tourney. The varsity action will start on Thursday, December 18, at 6:30 p.m. with Culver and Argos meeting in the first game. The second game will start about 20 minutes after completion of the first game. Friday night will begin with the B-Team finals at 5:00 p.m., the consolation game at 6:30 and the championship battle to follow. In B team action, to be held at Argos on Wednesday night, the same draw lines up Argos and Culver at 6:30 p.m. and the second game with Triton and Glenn about 20 minutes after the completion of game one. There will be no consolation game in the B-team action. Season tickets for the tourney are $4.00 and are on sale now at the John Glenn office. This also includes the B-team action at Argos on Wednesday night. Single session tickets will be on sale at the door at Culver for $2.50 per session and the admission for the B-team action at Argos will be SI.OO. STARKE COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL COURSE HAS OPENINGS The Starke County Ambulance Service and Starke Memorial Hospital are sponsoring a basic emergency medical course. Gasses are to begin on Monday, December 29, at 6:00 p.m. C.S.T. The cost of the course is $140.00 and includes books and supplies. Financial assistance is available. Interested persons should call Sally Olverius, ambulance clerk, at 772-9140 before December 23.
