Lisa Smith And Susan Springman Chosen At JGHS LISA SMITH John Glenn High School juniors Lisa Smith and Susan Springman have been selected to attend the Tenth Annual Symposium for Tommorrow's Leaders to be held at the University of Indianapolis on December 6. 1986. Last year more than 550 students from 300 high schools attended this exciting event. The Symposium will focus on current national issues. United States

j SUSAin springman Senator Richard G. Lugar will open the program with an address, after which each student will participate in three mini-sessions. Guest lecturers from academia, business, labor and government have agreed to debate and lead discussions on the topcis selected for the minisessions. FRESHMAN BASKETBALL TEAM WINS TWO Last Tuesday, the freshman basketball team traveled to South Central where they gained their second victory of the young season. Balanced scoring led the Falcons to the 57-35 victory. Randy Pontius, Charlie Winger and Chris Stedman
each contributed 10 points while Shaun Lowry and Steve Foresman added eight and six points respectively. Charlie Winger grabbed an impressive 15 rebounds. Steve Rhodes and Chris Stedman reached for four each. On Monday night the Freshman basketball team increased its record to 3-0 by defeating a tough Bremen team 49-45. Rebounding proved to be the difference throughout the game with the Falcons holding the edge 30-18. Steve Foresman and Charlie Winger crashed the boards hard and pulled down 10 and nine rebounds respectively. Chris Stedman led both teams in scoring with 19. Steve Foresman added 11 points with Charlie Winger and Steve Rhodes contributing six and five points respectively. They face LaPorte Wednesday night for their first home game. UREY WINS OVER NEW PRAIRIE The Urey Bth grade raised its record to 2-0 with a 37-15 victory over New Prairie. The Falcons were led by Hardesty’s 16 points. John Johnson and Rick O’Connor added five each. The Falcons jumped to an early 15-4 lead but allowed the Cougars to get back into the game. “The first quarter defense was very good, but we couldn’t sustain that level of play for the entire game”, noted coach Christlieb. “The kids are working hard and are starting to recognize the things we need to do. The defense needs to improve because it will carry us and will win the big games for us". The 7th grade evened its record at 1-1 with a 38-10 victory over New Prairie. Chris Nimon led Urey with 14 points followed by Ryan Peterson’s 10 points. The Falcons outscored New Prairie 27-6 in the second half to take command of the game. A 33-23 rebounding edge helped the Falcons secure the victory. “The kids really hit the offensive boards well", commented coach Christlieb. The next middle School game is December 10 against Argos. FAN BUS SCHEDULES The fan bus for the boys basketball game on Friday, December 5, at Culver, will leave Tyner and North Liberty at 5:15 p.m. and Glenn high school at 5:30 p.m. Game time is 6:30 p.m. Adults, $1.00; students 50 cents. TRIPLE DUAL MEET AT JOHN GLENN SATURDAY The John Glenn High School wrestlers will host a triple dual meet on Saturday, December 6. with Knox, LaVille. Jimtown and Glenn participating. The doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and weigh in and coaches drawing for order of matches will be held at 9:15 a.m. At 10:00 a.m. the matches will begin on two mats. Admission is 53.00 for adults and $2.00 for students. The John Glenn Athletic Boosters will have concessions. All eating and drinking will be done in the cafeteria. This recipe for Varsmorgasar takes only minutes to prepare. A lightly seasoned mixture of ready to spread deviled ham and chopped hardcooked egg tops thin slices of white bread. They’re easily cut into bite size hors d’oeuvres for a holiday gathering. You can do them well in advance as they keep wrapped in the refrigerator for three days or for several weeks in the freezer. Varsmorgasar 7 slices thin white bread l’A teaspoons chopped dill 1 can deviled ham I'A teaspoons chopped (41/2 ounces) parsley 2 tablespoons softened I*4 teaspoons chopped butter or margarine chives 1 tablespoon Dijon Dash freshly ground mustard pepper 2 hard cooked eggs Trim crusts from bread In a bowl, mix together deviled ham, butter, mustard, egg, dill, parsley, chives and pepper. Spread mixture generously on bread (Sandwiches may be wrapped well and refrigerated up to 3 days, or even frozen ) Just before serving, cut sandwiches into fourths. FALCON 500 CLUB DRAWING THIS SATURDAY The next Falcon 500 Cub drawing will be this Saturday, December 6. at 10:00 a.m., at Mr. T’s Restaurant, in North Liberty. St. Pat’s Team Records Third Straight Win The St. Patrick’s boys basketball team recorded their third straight win. Last week St. Pat's hosted St. Joseph's, of LaPorte and handed them a 32-17 defeat. The scoring was lead by Jason Groves, Josh Rice and Craig Stocks. The defense was sparked by Shane Stratton, Michael Walter and Joy Dyniewski. This Thursday, December 4, St. Pat's is hosting LeMans Academy to be played at the Walkerton Elementary School at 7:00 p.m. PROGRAMS AT THE KOONTZ LAKE NUTRITION SITE Monday. December 8, there will be a program on immunization by Dr. Kerry Dessabar, of Memorial Hospital, South Bend, at 12:15 p.m. C.S.T. Anyone interested may come to the Koontz Lake Conservation Club.
