Karen Lynn Hawk and Brett Edward Harding were married in the Lakeville United Methodist Church on Saturday. October 25. at 5:30 p.m., with Pastor Lowell Townsend officiating. The bride is the daughter of Don and Mary Hawk. Walkerton. The groom is the son of Edward and Georgette Harding. North Liberty. Maid of honor was Roxanne Fisher. North Liberty. LOCAL BANK ELECTS TWO NEW OFFICERS Thomas T. Boyd, chief executive officer of Farmers State Bank of Wyatt, has announced the election of two new officers. ▲£ Michael T. Arnett joins the bank as assistant vice president and commercial account representative. A South Bend native, he was graduated from LaSalle High School and holds a B.S. degree in management from Purdue University and an associate degree in computer science from Indiana Vocational Technical College. Since 1980 Arnett was worked for Indiana Information Controls in Valparaiso as customer service representative, marketing representative, senior customer service representative and account manager. He and his wife, Deborah, have two children, Timothy, five, and Ashleigh, three. Sharon McGee has been named assistant secretary. She joined the h ank in February, 1984. as a secretary and new accounts representative and. in September. 1985. was appointed secretary to the president. She previously served

WALKERTON TOWN BOARD MINUTES The Walkerton Town Board met on November 10, 1986 with the following members present: Arthur Heemer, Gregory Williams, Margaret Gaddis and E. Clifford Ward. James Gevenger, town attorney, and Kathryn Chrapliwy were also present. The minutes to the previous meeting were approved as written. Mr. Heemer informed the Board about problems he has had with Trash-A-Way on Thursday last. Those problems consisted of the pick up of leaves. Mr. Heemer felt that not only a understanding of the trash pickup contract was needed but also a set policy from the Town as to what they were going to do
about leaf pickup. The president of the board asked for a meeting between the trash contractor, utility superintendent and the Town Board at the next Town Board meeting on November 24. 1986. A motion was made by Arthur Heemer to have the Town pick up leaves, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the week of November 17th and the 24th. Cliff Ward seconded the motion and all voted in favor. A resolution to reduce the 1986 Budget was passed on a motion by Gaddis, seconded by Arthur Heemer. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is necessary to reduce certain appropriations in the 1986 Budget; Now, therefore be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Walkerton. St. Joseph County, Indiana that for the expenses of said municipal corporation the following appropriations have been reduced and ordered set apart out of the fund herein named and for the purpose herein specified. Cumulative Building And Sinking 450 Capital Outlays, $35,000.00 to $13,298.00. Total reduction $21,702.00. General Fund 310 Legal Services $3,000.00 to $2991.26. 311 Building Inspector $1,000.00 to SO.OO. 312 Historical Society SIOO.OO to $77.42. 322 Expenses $500.00 to $488.32. 351 Garbage Pick Up $17,800.00 to $17,753.00. Police Department 120 Social Security $9,800.00 to $8,800.00. 121 PERF $10,700.00 to $9,700.00. 350 Utilities $6,500.00 to $5,500.00. 360 Gasoline $6,500.00 to $5,500.00. 361 Maintenance $3,000.00 to $2,000.00. Total Reduction $6,090.00.
A revised agreement between HRP and Town of Walkerton was presented by the town attorney. One of the issues in the agreement was certain taps that were done on Washington Street worth $750.00. The clerk-treasurer said those charges were correct and needed to be paid. The attorney was instructed to pursue the agreement. An Ordinance for removing Walkerton from the jurisdiction of the Indiana Public Service Commission was presented for its first reading and was passed on the first reading by a motion from Gaddis, seconded by Heemer. ORDINANCE #B6-006 AN ORDINANCE REMOVING WALKERTON MUNICIPAL UTIL ITIES FROM THE JURISDICTION OF THE INDIANA PUBLIC SER VICE COMMISSION. WHEREAS, the Town Board of Trustees of the Town of Walkerton, Indiana, has been presented with a petition signed by more than five percent (5%) of the registered voters of the Town of Walkerton requesting that the Walkerton municipal water and electric utilities be removed from the jurisdiction of Indiana Public Service Commission for rate-making purposes; and WHEREAS, said petition was made pursuant to the provisions of Indiana Code Section 8-1.5-3-9; and WHEREAS, on the 11th day of August, 1986, the Town Board of Trustees of the Town of Walkerton, Indiana, passed and adopted Ordinance Number 86-004 to submit the above request to the registered voters of the Town of Walkerton, Indiana, at the next municipal election; and WHEREAS, on November 4, 1986, at the next municipal election for the Town of Walkerton, Indiana, the registered voters of said town voted 413 in favor, and 104 against, removal of the Walkerton municipal water and electric utilities from the jurisdiction of the Indiana Public Service Commission for rate-making purposes;

NOW THEREFORE. BE IT OR DAINED BY THE TOWN BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF WALKERTON, INDI ANA: SECTION 1; That the municipally owned electric and water utilities of the Town of Walkerton. Indiana, shall be hereby removed from the jurisdiction of the Indiana Public Service Commission for approval of rates and charges. SECTION 2: That this ordinance shall be effective from and after its passage and signing by the President of the Town Board of Trustees. Ordinance #B6-006 will be read by short title for the second and third time at the iext meeting passed on motion by Heemer, seconded by Ward. The truck bid from Mahoney Mann was denied for the second time. Mr. Heemer made his remarks concerning the issue and throught that by passing the claim for the truck at a higher cost than what was actually bid would set the Town in a bad light with other potential bidders in the future. The Town Board asked Jollie Back to negotiate the bid with Mahoney and if he refused to come down then we would have to look elsewhere for a truck proposal. A motion was made by Arthur Heemer stating that in the future all Town Board Trustees will sign for their claims when getting paid at the end of the quarter unless there are extenuating circumstances. The motion was seconded by Cliff Ward. The Employee s Personnel Manual was tabled and will rise at the next board meeting in November. All Department Head reports was accepted on a motion by Heemer, seconded by Gaddis. Claims 1275 to 1346 were passed on a motion by Heemer, seconded by Ward. With no further business to come before the Board the meeting was adjourned on a motion by Heemer. seconded by Gaddis.
