The 102nd birthday of Mrs. Etta Mae Milner was celebrated very quietly last week with a birthday dinner on Tuesday of last week. Mrs. Milner’s birthday was on Sunday, October 19. Mrs. Bertha Urbin and Bob Urbin were in Elkhart on Sunday evening for the birthday dinner in celebration of the birthdays of Jessica and Stephanie Yoder, at the home of their parents, David and Elizabeth Yoder. Others present were Dr. and Mrs. John Guttman, of Wakarusa, Mrs. Yoder and Gina Yoder. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Craigmile, of Muncie, were the house guests from Thursday to Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Houser. Mrs. Ella Nusbaum is in the LaPorte Hospital as well as Mrs. Nellie Smith who had surgery on Monday, and Mrs. Georgia Cripe. Mrs. Geo Clark is in the Osteopathic Hospital. Mrs. Donald Nicholas is home from the hospital on a trial basis and enjoys some company. Hosts for the Koontz Lake Conservation Gub dinner on Saturday evening will be Mrs. Harriet Jeffery and Mrs. Josephine Nowakowski. At the business meeting of the club last Friday evening new officers were elected for the coming year. Roy and the two ladies met when they visited their husbands who were in camp in Missouri and exchanged addresses and have corresponded since that time. The two ladies wanted to see the sand dunes and a tour was taken with dinner enjoyed later at Miller’s Case, in New Carlisle, on Sunday. Mr. Harold Rust, of Indianapolis. was a Wednesday visitor of Mr. and Mrs. Gell Fouts. Mrs. Esther Smith, Koontz Lake, spent the weekend in Munster with her daughter and family and attended the wedding of her granddaughter. Karen Schultz, on Saturday afternoon at St. Thomas Moore Church, Munster. Bob Urbin was in Logansport Saturday evening for dinner with 13 of his cousins as the group got together at the Casablanca Restaurant for their "cousins dinner". Others were present from South Bend, Granger, Monticello, Rochester, Logansport and Peoria, Illinois. BIRTHS A son was born to Rhonda and Arden Smith, Lowell, Indiana, on October 18, in St. Anthony Hospital, Crown Point. He weighed in at seven pounds and 11 ounces and has been named Stephen Matthew.
