Cooperative Extension Service, recognizes these achievers. Andy is the son of William and Marolyn Millar, of North Liberty. He finished third in the Senior Division of the tractor operators contest to receive the State Fair Achievement trip. Some of the places these 4-Hers saw were Williamsburg, Va., Mount Vernon, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Valley Forge and Gettysburg.

Social Service Meeting Held By Community Club The Walkerton General Federation Woman's Community Club met on Friday, October 3, for a regular social service meeting. During the morning session, members made Halloween and Thanksgiving favors for the residents of Miller’s Merry Manor nursing home, in Walkerton. The favors were made under the direction of Victoria Shogren, chairwoman; Marjory Curl, Maxine Blue, Mildred Nolcheff and Josephine Nowakowski, serving on the social service committee. Mildred Casey, vice president, conducted the afternoon meeting. The theme for the day was “Look For Beauty In Serving". Alfreda Onika announced the breakfast that will be held on Friday, October 17, at the First United Presbyterian Church, Walkerton, reservations can be made by calling Alfreda at 586-3972. Crystal Lawrence invited all members and their guests to Guest Night which will be on November7. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m, Lucille Dipert, chairman of the ways and means committee, asked that members see that the committee get their craft items and paperback books for the GFWC Booth at the Walkerton Fall Festival, October 10 and 11, in Walkerton. Freda Meyer reported that the Sunshine committee visited Evelyn Ferguson, on her 80th birthday and delivered a fall arrangement of flowers to her. The District Convention will be on Thursday, October 9, in LaPorte. Anyone wishing to go should call Mrs. Casey at 586-7206. Happy bitthday was sung to Alfreda Onika and Mildred Nolcheff. Hostesses for the day were Helen Bowman, chairman; Catherine Hergenrother, Natali Jachimczak, Carma Larson and Rose Minter.
