OBITUARIES
EUGENE DONALD GERBER Eugene Donald Gerber, 55, of 609 Harrison Street, Walkerton, passed away at 12:30 p.m., on Sunday. October 5, in the LaPorte Hospital, after an illness. He was born on December 17. 1930, in Cleveland. Ohio and had lived in Walkerton since 1970. coming from Pleasant Hill, California. He married Esther Rosalie Hinz, on June 11. 1953, in Walkerton, who survives. Surviving along with his wife is a daughter. Rosalie Ann Gerhart, of Kingsford Heights; two sons. Robert V. Gerber, of North Charleston. South Carolina, and Charles R.Gerber. of Muncie; and two grandchildren. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, at the First United Presbyterian Church. Walkerton, of which he was a member, with Rev. Richard Reynolds, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemeterv. Walkerton. He was a member of the Walkerton American Legion Post 189 and Bremen Veterans of Foreign Wars. Arrangements were made by the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton. ERNEST M. MORRIS Ernest M. Morris, 55. of 503 Illinois Street, Walkerton, passed away at 2:55 p.m., on Sunday, October 5. in St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend, after an illness. He was born on July 6, 1931, in South Bend, and lived in Walkerton all his life. He was first married to the former Dorothy A. Gardner, who preceded him in death on February 8, 1978. He then married Minnie L. Mann, on December 29, 1978, in Tucson, Arizona, who survives. He was a tool and die maker for Morris Precision, Inc., Walkerton. Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey J., Walkerton, and Scott A., North Liberty; two step daughters, Becky Sheaks, Walkerton, and Kathryn Ransbottom, Mishawaka; a step son, Lloyd S. Ransbottom, Walkerton; six grandchildren; a sister,

Jeanette Harrison, Mount Dora. Florida; and three brothers, John W. "Bill”, of Plymouth, Dennis, of Koontz Lake, and Russell, of Michigan City. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. October 8. in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home. Walkerton, with Rev. Thomas Bowman officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Walkerton. Military graveside services were conducted by members of the Walkerton American Legion Post 189. Mr. Morris was a member of the W’alkerton United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 189 and a member and past master of Walkerton Masonic Lodge 619 F & AM. He was a veteran of the Korean War. TERRY DUCKETT Terry Duckett, 22. of Tecumseh Road. Koontz Lake, was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident on State Road 23. after he had been hit by a car driven by Mitchell Pearish, around 5:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. October 5. Duckett was walking on the road just a mile north of Koontz Lake, near the Starke-St. Joseph county line. The accident remains under investigation. Duckett was born on September 21, 1964. in LaPorte. He is survived by a sister, Sherry Duckett. Walkerton; two brothers, Gary, Walkerton, and Richard, Koontz Lake; two half-sisters, Tina and Rusty Duckett, both of Logansport; his mother. Ada Harvev. Salversville. Kentucky; his father and step mother. Russell and Carolyn Duckett, Logansport; his paternal grandmother, Marie Voorhees, Koontz Lake; and his paternal grandfather, Truman Duckett, Logansport. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, with Pastor Greg Bentle officiating. Burial was in Fletcher Cemetery, Hamlet. He was an assembler at Panel Craft, Plymouth, and a 1982 graduate of Logansport High School.

NORA L. SPAID Mrs. Nora L. Spaid, 92, of 1212 Fairbanks Street, Plymouth, passed away at 5:02 p.m., on Thursday, in Holy Cross Parkview Hospital, Plymouth. She was born on May 16, 1894, in Starke County to Freeman and Rosa Hanselman Stanton. She was a lifetime resident of Marshall County. She married Ora Spaid on January 1, 1913, in Marshall County and he preceded her in death on December 19. 1966. Surviving are a daughter, Wanda (Mrs. Howard) Balsley, Plymouth; a son. Dale Spaid, Walkerton; five grandchildren; one stepgrandson; four great-grandchild-ren; two step great-grandchildren; and two sisters. Vada Klingerman, Plymouth, and Violet Jacobson, Tyner. She was preceded in death by two sons, DeVon and Dallas; and two sisters and two brothers. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Plymouth, with burial in New Oak Hill Cemetery. Plymouth. INFANT WOOD Infant David Louis Wood, four day old son of Donald Arthur and Donna Kay (Schmeltz) Wood, Rural Route 4, Box 3, Walkerton, passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. He was bom on September 28 in South Bend. Surviving along with his parents are his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Schmeltz, Route 4, Walkerton. Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton, with Rev. Edgar J. Berkshire officiating. The Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, was in charge of the arrangements. JAMES P. DAVIDSON James P. Davidson, 35. of 19581 Lincoln Highway, Donaldson, died at 3:42 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, in Holy Cross Parkview Hospital, Plymouth, of a gunshot wound to the head following an incident at his home. He married Catherine Martin on March 4, 1974, who survives.
Surviving along with his wife are three children, Jacki, Sara and Jim, all at home; his parents, Herbert Davidson and Leora (Mrs. Wayne) Shock, both of Plymouth; a brother, Ronald, of Walkerton; three sisters, Karlette Miller, South Bend; Linda Mitchell, Culver, and Sue Wade, Plymouth; and two half sisters, Chris and Angie Davidson, both of South Bend. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth, with Rev. Steve Conger, officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. MARRIED S JI e/ Laura M. Patricia Hathaway, daughter-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor and bridesmaid was Frances Hathaway, daughter-in-law of the bride. Flower girl was Johanna Hathaway, granddaughter of the bride. Virgil Ford. Muncie, son of the groom, was best man and groomsman was Timothy Ford, son of the groom. Ringbearer was Matt Ford, grandson of the groom. Ushers were John and Rodney Hathaway, sons of the bride. A reception followed in the church with a cake that was baked by Pansy Michael. Sidney. Indiana.
