I Falcons Drop A Closo Gamo To Satollltos 14 - 6 The John Glenn Falcons dropped another close, hard-fought football game Friday night, but the end result was still their 4th loss in five games in a non-conference battle at South Central. Add to this, they may have lost the offensive services of senior Wes Pavey for the year as he suffered a cracked bone in his left hand despite having a great night passing the ball for the Falcons. It was put in a cast early this week. the middle for 6 yards and after Searfoss plowed for one on the next play, the third down run by Searfoss was stopped a yard behind the line of scrimmage and coach Dennis Rippy called for a punt. Even this went well, with Pavey downing the ball at the 1 yard line, making it first and 10 for the hosts. However, after two runs of 8 and 7 yards picked up a first down, the Satellites were called for two five yard penalties in the next set of downs, pushing them back to a third and 16 from the 10. On the play, a screen pass from David Johnson to Vernon Sims netted 23 yards and another first down. It then was a vicious ground attack with Sims doing most of the work as they picked up three more first downs. On another key third and nine from the 20, Johnson hit David Van Wormer for 17 yards, making it first and goal at the 3. It took two punches before Kerry Harlow punched it over to end a 17 play drive that covered 99 yards and used up all but :22 seconds of the first quarter. The kick attempt was wide and it was 6-0 Satellites. The Falcons still weren't able to get untracked and punted once again. However, this time the Falcons stopped them and forced a return punt that Glenn got in South Central territory at the 44 yard line. A holding penalty of 10 yards shoved them back and they were forced to punt again. This time the

ball was killed at the 12 yard line. However, the Satellites did what they do best, run the ball. In 11 plays they covered the 88 yards with Sims breaking the last one for 36 yards and the score. This time a two point run by Harlow was good and it was 14-0 with 2:36 left in the half. Glenn made a good effort on this next attempt, getting three first downs, mostly on the arm of Pavey but the final play of the half was a completed pass that was stopped on the South Central 12 yard line as time ran out. The second half was a different story. The Satellites took the kickoff and after picking up two first downs, fumbled the ball away and Bob Porter recovered. Glenn took the ball at their own 39 and moved for two first downs before a Pavey pass was picked off by Van Wormer at the Satellite 20, stopping this drive. However, on the second play, another fumble by the Satellites was covered by Brian Groves and Glenn had the ball at the South Central 40. Pavey had the wind knocked out of him in this set of plays and left the game for a few plays and Glenn punted back. Once again the hard hitting defense forced another fumble and this one w as covered by Kraig Perkins at the South Central 15. On the first play. Pavey returned and hit Groves on a diving catch at the 1. From here Searfoss plowed over for the TD. A missed snap on the extra point try ended in the would be kicker getting smeared with the ball for no points. This score came with just five seconds left in the third quarter. After forcing South Central to punt in the early fourth period, Glenn took the ball and marched from their own nine yard line to the Satellite 23. overcoming two penalties along the way that really hurt, but couldn’t sustain the drive past that spot. The Satellites were then able to run out the clock gain-

THE WICKED WITCH The Wicked Witch of the West sat in her favorite rocking chair. She was worn out after her night of work. She had commanded her flying broom to take her over all the pumpkin patches. Then she sprinkled one of her magic potions over the pumpkins. You see she didn't want the children to have Jack-O-Lanterns for Hallowe en “The pumpkins , she laughed gleefully, “will become miniature monster robots. There's no way any little kid can have a happy Hallowe’en with my miniature monster robots, she said, for they will perform mean tricks and they will eat all the treats.” But Farmer Jones noticed that something was happening to his pumpkins

ing one first down along the way. It was a tough game to lose once again. The Falcons have been in every game except possibly the first one against Hammond High, but seem to have one good half and one not so good. However, coach Rippy has been unable to start the same backfield in any two games out of the first five, and now with Pavey's injury might be back to square one as they now move into the easier portion of their schedule. Host Triton Friday Night The Falcons will host Triton on Friday in the homecoming football game. The Trojans this year are improved and have scored well in a couple of their games. Gametime is 7:30 Friday in the next to last home game of the season.
