Business Women Gather For First Meeting This Fall Walkerton Business and Professional Women’s Gub members gathered at the Walkerton 1.0.0. F. Lodge Hall, on Thursday, September 25, for their first meeting of the fall. The Evening Star Rebekah ladies provided the fired chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad and dessert bar that the 45 persons present enjoyed prior to the business meeting. Small gourds, squash and ears of Indian corn decorated the tables. The meeting was opened by the president, Karen Johnson. Guests were introduced as follows: Wanda Pontius, Ann Dailey, Nancy Reynolds, Gara Smiley, Alma Daube and a former resident but still a member of the club, Sally Nelson,

of Phoenix. Arizona. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were submitted by Jean Cole and Pauline Baughman, respectively. Letters of thanks were read from the two scholarship reIcipients. Helen Kennedy, "Woman Os The Year” for 1986, was presented a corsage and an engraved charm by Ruth Ullery. Donations were approved for the Friends of the Fourth and the Koontz Lake Festival. During the upcoming Fall Festival. the club will had a Country Store, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., on October 10 and 11 along with a bake sale. Also the club is sponsoring the Dance to be held on Saturday. October 11. beginning at 7:00 p.m., with DJ Garry Wolfenbarger. The dance will be held in the downtown area. Craft items may be taken to Maggie Gaddis, at Kabelin's Hardware until Wednesday. October 8. or to Becky Reed, October 8 - 11. at Hidden Bu-Tee Salon. Mrs. Johnson announced her committees for the year as follows: membership, Carol Beem, Betty King, Suzie Johnson and Helen Kennedy; ways and means, Maggie Gaddis and Sandy Erdelyi. Chamber of Commerce, Myrna Daube; birthday bank, Barb Burket; publicity, Sue Urbin. Also sickness and distress, Myrle Dixon and Florence Erickson; nominating, Marty Malstaff and Rose Minter; Installation, Verda Karn, Esther Smith, Carma Larson and Selma Pry. totals. Vi Guard had a nice 165 high scratch game, but Liz Moreau's 218 handicap game just beat Vi's 215. There was real competition among the ladies! The 13 gents were paced by Bud Weinman’s high scratch game of 198 and Harold Schweder’s 193. Harold had the high handicap game with a 227, closely followed by Gaude Nowakowski's 224. The high series was roiled by Harold, with a nice 545 total. There is still room for more Senior Bowlers. REV. KOZIOL, NATIVE OF RUSSIA, TO SPEAK HERE Rev. Jack Koziol, a native of Russia and now with the Far Eastern Broadcasting Company, will speak at the First Baptist Church, in Walkerton, on Sunday morning, October 5. at 9:30 and 10:30 a m. Rev. Koziol recently visited in Russia and is aware of the conditions and hardships among Christians in that country. He will report as to how the Christian Radio Broadcast is needed and benefiting folks in Russia and other countries. The First Baptist Church is on the comer of Maine and Garke Streets, D.O.
