The seventh grade team lost 5-15 and 12-15. The eight grade team also lost by scores of 7-15, 15-3 and 7-15. On Thursday, Sept. 25. the North Liberty/Urey football team played Plymouth with the seventh grade team winning by a score of 8-0. Scoring the only touchdown of the game was quarterback Ryan Peterson on a long touchdown scamper. Scoring the two point conversion was Shane Carbiener. The defense played their best game of the year in recording their first shutout against a previously unbeaten team to remain without a loss. Outstanding defensive performances were by Shane Carbiener, Scott Hall, Ryan Peterson and Derrick Gardy. This was a super team effort especially the defense in a tough victory over the Plymouth squad. The next game will be against New Prairie at the North Liberty field starting at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The boys are coached by John Pattison. The eighth grade team won over Plymouth 8-6 with the Falcons in a comeback fashion with less than a minute to go to defeat the Rockies. The winning score was set up by two great plays. The first was a fourth and long run to keep things going by Rick O’Connor and a pass play from John Johnson to Bryan Vandall for the touchdown and Ralph Campion scored the winning two point conversion. This a super team defensive effort. The defense kept us in the bailgame all night. Top defensive people were Bryan Vandall, Jimmy Houser, Marty Hesch, Rod Anderson, Ralph Campion. Loren Knowlton and Rick O’Connor. This was the best effort ever by the eighth grade team. The team showed a lot of heart and determination too.
