WALKERTON TOWN BOARD MINUTES The Walkerton Town Board met in regular session on August 25. 1986 with the following members present: Clifford Ward. Margaret Gaddis and Gregory Williams. James Clevenger, town attorney, and Kathryn Chrapliwy, clerktreasurer, were also present. The minutes were approved as written. OLD BUSINESS Clifford Ward made a motion that all the properties that the Town had up for sale that did not get sold should be offered for sale again to the adjoining land owners. Margaret Gaddis seconded the motion and all agreed. Jeff Zehner recommended to the Board that the new sewer extension for the Harrison Street properety be laid in the alley. The estimated cost of materials will be $302.20. Mr. Zehner felt the job could be completed by September 12. Margaret Gaddis so moved on Zehner’s recommendation. Clifford Ward seconded the motion. NEW BUSINESS The Board has been informed that a law suit has been filed regarding Darrell Eddinger’s death. The Town of Walkerton, St. Joseph County, B & O Railroad and Mahoney’s have been named in the suit. A list of charge offs for utility accounts for the amount of $9,139.30 was presented to the Board for approval. Margaret Gaddis so moved that the Board sign the charge off list. Clifford Ward seconded the motion and all agreed Police chief Gassensmith requested the hiring of a temporary police officer because of the prolonged illness of John Marek. Margaret Gaddis motioned for the hiring of James Seals, a retired New York City police officer in that temporaty position. Gifford Ward seconded the motion and all agreed. The Board approved the adop tion of the 1987 Budget for a total of $535,904.00. Estimated funds to be raised are $277,755.00. Margaret Gaddis motioned for the adoption and Clifford Ward seconded with all in favor. The contract for animal control with the Humane Society was approved for $600.00 for 1986. Gifford Ward so moved and Margaret Gaddis seconded. Gaims 939 to 987 were approved for a total of $62,133.05 by Gifford Ward and seconded by Margaret Gaddis. With no further business to come before the Board the meeting adjourned on a motion by Gifford Ward and seconded by Margaret Gaddis. Use oUr classifieds — only $1.50.
