The Falcons had the ball for the third time when they were forced to punt for the third time only to have the snap from center on the punt attempt fumbled and recovered for an 11 yard loss, giving Hammond the bail on the Glenn 24 yard line. McGruder hit for 14 and 7 yards in two carries and from there fullback Robb Pettit bulled it in for the game’s first score with 9:21 left in the first half. The Wildcats tried for two points on the conversion and missed on a pass and it was 6-0. The Wildcats scored on the next possession, again after a Glenn punt, when a six play drive covered 55 yards with McGruder running the ball five of the six plays for 50 yards and the TD from four yards out. A pass good for 10 yards added to the drive. This time the Wildcats ran the extra point in with

quarterback Pat Long making it into the end zone after rolling out to pass and it was 14-0 with 4:18 left. The Falcons did put together a couple of first downs, but with time running out, they were unable to sustain the drive before halftime and the first half ended 14-0. The second half started with a bang for the visitors. James Graham fielded the second half kick on a bounce at his own 15 yard line and managed to break through the on-charging wall of Glenn players around the 30 and break into the open to outrun the rest of the kickoff team for an 85 yard scoring dash. Kevin Edgerton then kicked the extra point and it was 21-0. The Falcons showed a little more punch in their offense in the second half, the first time running 10 plays and two first downs before turning the ball over on downs on a fourth and two from the Hammond 42. The two teams then traded possession again before the Wildcats started a drive in the late third quarter on their own 31 yard line. A good combination of McGruder, quarterback Long bootlegging a couple of plays and another completed pass highlighted the nine play drive that resulted with McGruder scooting in from the 15 for what was to be the game's final touchdown. Edgerton kicked the point once again and it was 28-0. After this kickoff, the Falcons put on a good sustained drive from their ow n 33 down to the Hammond 8 yard line with four first downs and a mixture of plays featuring the running of Dave Searfoss and the passing of Wes Pavey. However, a first down pass from the eight was intercepted in the end zone, ending the Falcons chance to score and Hammond then ground out two first downs on the ground to run the clock and and wrap up the victory. In addition to McGruder's fine running, Searfoss had a good night for Glenn, picking up 111 yards in 23 carries despite the fact the entire Glenn team only had 68 yards on the ground, thanks to several big losses including a few quarterback sacks and the fumbled snap on the punt that was picked up for a big loss. This Friday the Falcons will travel to Knox, to play an improved Knox Redskin team who opened the season last Friday with a good beating of South Central. Gametime will be 7:30 p.m. on the Knox field. The Scoring HAMMOND: Rob Pettit. 4 yard run.
