DeWayne, Mary Alice and Wes Pavey spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schmits and family, in Aurora, Indiana. Wes, Freddie and Jennifer spent Sunday at Kings Island, while the parents enjoyed a Sunday brunch at the Ogle Hans Inn, in Vevay, overlooking the Ohio River. Following brunch they attended the Swiss Alpine Festival, in Vevay. Billy Sohn, of Hobart, spent part of last week at Koontz Lake with his grandmother, Mrs. Fran Sohn. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dipert spent the weekend at a Villa, in Lombard, Illinois, with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. George L. Matz, of Shebyogan, Wisconsin, were recent guests of Mrs. Paul DeVos, of North Liberty. They were here to share with his sister, Mrs. Pauline Klopfenstein, her retirement on Friday, August 1, from the postal department. Last Friday Mrs. Goldie Skinner was a dinner guest of Mrs. Ethel Palmeiter, of South Bend. Other guests were Mrs. Helen Smith, Mary Divine, Darlene and Ann Wilson, all of South Bend; and Mrs. Donna Vitou, of Elkhart. Dinner was enjoyed at the restaurant called Some Other Place, in Niles, Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Jacob entertained on Friday evening with a cookout for the following guests, Mrs. Margaret Myers, a former Presbyterian minister's wife and her daughter. Myron Mullets. Mrs. Myers and the Marshalls are from Attica and spent Friday and Saturday with the Jacob family. A retirement party was held for Leigh Roy Hahn, Sr., on Sunday evening with a cookout. Leigh Roy retired from the Walkerton Park Department and is enjoying his leisure time. Those present were Mrs. Mamie Hahn, Mrs. Goldie Skinner, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hahn and family, of Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn, Jr., and family of English Lake; Catherine and Gerald Hahn, Walkerton; Mr. and Mrs. Carey Hahn and family, of Tyner; and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hahn and family, of Walkerton. Friday evening guests of Pauline Klopfenstein were Horace Fields, Rick Ruby, Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson, Johnny and Jonna, all of Walkerton; Roger Simmons, of Warsaw; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. John Paige, of Elkhart; Mrs. Paul DeVos, of North Liberty; Mr. and Mrs. George Matz, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Simmons, of Topeka, Kansas. Mrs. Vylet Baker was released on Monday of this week from Miller's Merry Manor, in Walkerton and is now staying at home. Her sister, Mrs. Marguriete McCutcheon, of Phoenix. Arizona, is staying with her for a week or more. On Saturday, Mrs. Glenn Jacob entertained for the following guests, Mrs. Margo Brem and daughter. Brenner, Mrs. Millie Hesse, of Seattle, Washington, and Mrs. Florence McKess, of Rushton Park, Illinois, were here one day last week for a luncheon with the Brenners. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dipert will serve as hosts for the Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner meeting on Saturday evening. A good place to spend a couple of hours on Saturday evening. Miss Donna Klopfenstein, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Mrs. Marsha Rushton, of Gabbe, Nevada, arrived here on Tuesday to spend two weeks with their mother, Mrs. Polly Klopfenstein. Mr. and Mrs. Damon Nichols, of North Liberty; Mrs. Velma Stahly, of Walkerton; and Mrs. Patricia Nusbaum, of Fort Wayne, attended the David Stahly reunion, at the park in Bremen, on Sunday, with 55 present. An enjoyable time was had with plenty of shade and lots of good food. On Sunday, July 27, Mrs. Fran Sohn and Mr. and Mrs. John Dixon, all of Koontz Lake, were in Hobart, to attend the 50th wedding anniversary of close friends. Last Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. Clell Fouts went to Muncie to visit with Mrs. Fred (Margaret Godfrey) LeMaitre. They then went on to Greenfield to visit with Mr. Harold Rust. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hostetler and family hosted a swimming party and cookout, on Sunday afternoon for the Hostetler family. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hostetler and family, Mr. and Mrs. David Hostetler and Kay, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hostetler and Michelle, Mr. and Mrs. Herald Hostetler, Steven and Wayne. Miss Pat Pomblin and Mrs. Goldie Skinner. Another bus trip was taken to Warsaw by a group of ladies to the Wagon Wheel Playhouse to see the musical, “How To Succeed In Business’’, which they stated was very funny and entertaining. The trip was taken by Mrs. Esther Smith, Mrs. Carma Larsen, Mrs. Harriett Jefferies, Mrs. Vee Shogren, Mrs. Selma Pry, Mrs. Viola Bregi, Mrs. Fran Sohn and her granddaughter, Wendy Rogers, of Hobart, who was visiting with her for a couple of days. The trip was taken last Wednesday. The affair was hosted by their daughter. DONNA MOORE ATTENDS PROGRAM AT EARLHAM Donna S. Moore, Rural Route 1, Walkerton, participated in Acceleration 86, a professional enrichment program for secondary school teachers at Earlham College. Moore was enrolled in the program with teachers from around the country. LADIES LEAGUES RESULTS AT HAMLET GOLF COURSE The Ladies Tuesday Morning League, on July 29, had Eleanor Harness winning A Flight with a net 37; Kathleen Blackman, B and Fran Odle, tied for B Flight with net 36. The game winner was Liz Bachinski. The Ladies Wednesday Twilight League on July 30, had Gladys Bolles and Liz Bachinski tying with net 34; second, Eleanor Hamess, net 35; and third, Lola Earle, net 36. The game winners, a 4-man team best putters, was won by Betty Helton, Cheryle Ferch Liz Bachinski and Fran Odle, with a total of 58 putts.
