Pauline Howell, center, presented John Evans and Dan Roser, of the North Liberty Area Lions Club, with a home respirator machine in appreciation for the help she received from the Lions during her illness of her husband. Besides the new respirator the Lions also ’ have on hand to loan to individuals, two hospital beds, side railings, crutches, wheel chairs and other small articles that are free of charge.

TO DELIVER PETUNIAS The North Liberty Area Chamber of Commerce will be delivering petunias to the homes on Center Street, North Main Street and South State Street, in North Liberty, on Saturday morning, May 17. This is the fourth annual “Cham-ber-Town Beautification" program. Homeowners are asked to plant these flowers in their front yards.
0-D Announces Valedictorian And Salutatorian Mr. Dirk E. Baer, principal of Oregon-Davis High School, has announced the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Gass of 1986. Valedictorian for the class is Elizabeth Anne Smith, daughter of Kenneth L. and Sharon K. Smith, of Hamlet. Salutatorian for 1986 is Pamela Annette Earnest, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Earnest, of Hamlet. Miss Smith maintained a perfect 4.0 academic record throughout her high school career. She was a Hoosier Girls’ State delegate, alternate for the Congressional Bunderstag exchange, a Lugar Symposium delegate and also a Hoosier Scholar and Purdue University Award of Excellence scholar. Elizabeth’s activities included volleyball, Future Farmers of America (president), National Honor Society (president), senior class president and 4-H Club officer. She plans to attend Purdue University in the fall as an Agronomy major in the School of Agriculture. Miss Earnest has been honored as a Hugh O’Brien Seminar delegate, Girls’ State alternate, Outstanding Student in Government, Lugar Symposium delegate and Tri-County Honor Band member. Pam has been selected as a Hooier Scholar and has been in several activities during her career.
