MAURICE LAMBERT Maurice Lambert, 64. of 30212 Osborne Road. North Liberty, passed away at 12:17 p.m.. on Sunday, May 4. in St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend. He was born on December 5, 1921, in Hamlet and moved to North Liberty 40 years ago. He married the former Luella Masterman on December 26, 1950, in Santa Claus. Indiana, who survives. He was a farmer, civilian pilot and owner of Lambert Field, an air field near North Liberty. Surviving along with his wife are three daughters. Judy Lambert. Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Bonnie Tuttle. Walkerton, and Colleen Malstaff. LaPorte; a son, Durante Harness, Chicago, Illinois; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grand-children; and a brother, Elmer. Jr., of North Liberty. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the A. M. Manuel Funeral Home. North Liberty, with Dr. Gaylord Saltzgaber, officiating. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty, where military services were conducted by members of the American Legion Post 365, North Liberty. American Veterans Chapter 6, South Bend, and a member of the American Legion Post 365. VALENTINA NOWACYK Valentina Nowaczyk. 75, of Rural Route 3. Iroquis Road, Koontz Lake, passed away at 12:50 p.m., on Monday. April 28. in Miller's Merry Manor. Walkerton. She was born on July 3, 1910. in Illinois. She married Harry Nowaczyk. who survives. Surviving along with her husband are three sisters. Marion Dombrowski, Sophie Switalski and Loretta Kielbasinski, all of Chicago; and a brother, Walter Dombrowski, of Chicago. Services were held on Friday, May 2, at 10:00 a.m., in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Chicago. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois. The Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, was in charge of local arrangements and the Georgian Funeral Home, Chicago, Illinois, was in charge of the arrangements in Illinois. JOSEPH W. O’BRIEN Joseph W. O’Brien, 77, of 1009 Tyler Street, Walkerton, passed away at 11:05 on Friday, in the LaPorte Hospital emergency room following an illness. He was born on June 24, 1908, in Chicago,

Illinois. He married Clair Elizabeth Keefe, on August 18, 1936, in Chicago, who preceded him in death on October 9, 1974. He retired as a security guard at the Wisconsin Steel Corp., Chicago, Illinois. Surviving are a sister, Alice Reilley, of Chicago. Illinois; and two brothers. John, of Calumet City, Illinois, and Francis, of Battle Creek, Michigan. A brother, Thomas, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 9:00 a m. on Monday, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Walkerton, of which he was a member, with Rev. Anthony Letko, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. He was a member of the Walkerton Council of Knights of Columbus. ARTHUR L. KASER Arthur L. Kaser, 74, of 218 South Street, LaPaz, passed away at 3:45 a.m. on Friday, in the Mayflower Nursing Home, Plymouth. He was born on February 15, 1912, in Marshall County and was a lifelong area resident. He married Berniece Dyer on September 29, 1934, in South Bend, who preceded him in death on April 23, 1986. He had retired from White Farm Equipment Co. Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Hittie, Walkerton; two sons, Roger, LaPaz, and Claude, Walkerton; 15 grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and two sisters, Maggie Richards, Lakeville, and Marie Schweisberger, Bremen. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, with Rev. Mike Dittmer, pastor of the Blissville Church of the Brethren, officiating. Burial was in the Fair Cemetery, North Liberty. BASEMENT AND BAKE SALE FRIDAY The Women’s Missionary Society of the County Line Brethren Church will be having their annual Basement and Bake Sale on Friday, May 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Come early to get your choice of quilts, all sizes of clothing, homemade baked goods, and lots of miscellaneous items. This annual event has raised thouands of dollars, all of which is donated directly to missionary causes. The Women’s Missionary Society also supports an orphan child, has monthly work days at the Church followed by a Bible study, a monthly morning prayer meeting and various other missionary efforts.
