Martha Young returned home on Wednesday. March 26. from her four month winter visit with her daughter. Sandra Youdbulis, and grandchildren, in Hawthorne. California. She had a very enjoyable time and did a lot of sightseeing during her stay. Short trips were made to Palm Springs, Long Beach to see the Queen Mary , the pictuesque town of Solvang, a little bit of Denmark in southern California, and her yearly visit to Disneyland. Kaufman, at Fish Lake. Easter Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dipert, Koontz Lake, were their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Dipert, of Champaign, Illinois, and their granddaughter. Joanne Hardt, of Jersey. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Thornburg will sene as hosts on Saturday evening for the Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner meeting, at the club house. Mrs. Stanley Betz returned on Friday after a ten day vacation spent in Phoenix. Arizona, visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Vern Betz and Mr. and Mrs. Jack McEvoy. She really enjoyed the warm weather. Mrs. Dick Kickbush was in Chicago for five days last week with a class from Ancilla College. There were 12 in the group along with a couple of teachers. They were studying various subjects. While
she was gone their daughter, Marina, came home for her vacation. She resides in Springdale, Arkansas, where she is employed as a draftsman. Mr. and Mrs. William Hampe, of Aurora, Illinois, and Shirley Flannery and daughter Tracy, of Chicago, were Easter dinner guests of Mrs. William Hampe of the 76 Apartments. A birthday party was given by a former Walkerton resident, Jeanette Rearick, of Wilmett, Illinois, for Esther Shultz, on Wednesday of last week at the Plaza Club, in Chicago, which is on top of the Prudential Building. Mrs. Rita Stewart accompanied Mrs. Schultz. A luncheon was enjoyed by all the guests which also included the birthday celebration of another guest, Audrey Buol, of Wilmett, Illinois. Mrs. Alma Daube had her sons and their wives for Easter dinner on Sunday, guests being Mr. and Mrs. Louis Daube, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Duabe, Walkerton, Mr. and Mrs. David Daube, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Daube, Hamlet, and Mr. Andy Hayter. Walkerton. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mercer and family entertained with Easter dinner for the following guests. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mercer and son. of Kingsbury, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ullery, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rizek and family, and Mr. and Mrs. John Rizek and sons, Walkerton. Mrs. Leonard Beaty and Mrs. Ed Cole were in Ohio last Tuesday and Wednesday visiting with Mrs. Beaty’s sister, Mrs. Ada Felix and other relatives in Montpelier. Jean enjoyed a visit with two friends she met on her European trip last summer. On Sunday, March 16. a surprise birthday party was given by William Brenner at the home of Albert and Dorothea Brenner for Violet Drake. The occasion also celebrated the birthdays of Vi's son, James, and her granddaughter, Jody Thom. All had been born on March 12. Guests included Robert and Patricia Thom, son Jeffery, daughter Jody and her friend, Jerry Payton, of Merrillville; James and Paula Drake, North Liberty; Larry and Paula
Lowry; Richard and Anna Anderson and daughter JoAnna, Walkerton; and Donald Brenner and daughter, Marcia, of Evanston, Illinois. Mr. Jerry Johnson, of Howell, Michigan, is here with his mother, Mrs. Helen Johnson, during his spring break. Mrs. Leonard Beaty received word that their seven week old great-granddaughter had surgery on her right kidney in the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital and seems to be doing well. Little Tanya Roberts and her mother were to return home on Easter Sunday. They are thankful for the many prayers given in her behalf. Mrs. Lawrence Stull spent the weekend in Ross, Ohio, with her daughter, Mrs. Terry Zboril. Friday visitors of Mrs. John Danielewski was her sister, Mrs. Rose Zelenik, of Whiting, and her daughter. Rose Ann, of Wisconsin. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Smith and Miss Ethel Bierly were Easter Day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Smith and family, in Mishawaka.
